Hello Ladies, sorry for sneaking into Tri 3 four days early but my topic mainly applies to trimester 3.

I am going for my first growth scan on monday next week when i will be 27 weeks and have to go again at 33 weeks due to me being overweight so they can get an accurate measurement of bubba.

Has anyone also being for growth scans? If so, is the scan mainly like the 20 week scan where they do alot of measurements? Do you/or can you ask for pic's? Also are you able to ask them to double check bubba's gender? (just i keep dreaming my little bubba girl has "turned" into a boy now :rotfl: - I wouldn't mind but just would like to be prepared)

Im having growth scans because Darragh was big (9lb 8oz) and I needed a c/section so monitoring this one to see if I can try for a normal delivery. They are not as clear as the 20 wk scan because the baby is bigger - but you usually get a good look at the head and tummy and see the arms and legs too.
I never asked for a photo but im sure they would give you one if you ask - good luck

I had a growth scan at 32 weeks because they thought my baby was small (he was 8lbs 7oz when born  )......at 32 weeks she said you couldnt see much and not worth photos, she was right - his limbs took up most of the screen and you couldnt really see what was what!!

It is always worth asking for a pic but it may be hard for them to get one as baby is bigger. They will measure babies head, abdomen, femur length and the amount of fluid and then plot it on the chart same as the 20 week scan. They won't change your dates as babies grow at different rates after the first tri.
They can check the gender for you I made a jokey is he still a boy then at my first one and they confirmed he definately was and showed us his bits and it was clear enough for my husband to embarass me with mention of him being hung like a donkey :rotfl:
