going mad?

Not sure if this counts as the nesting instinct but over the last few days have had a mad urge to get all the little jobs done around the house. Im not talking about cleaning or getting stuff ready for baby, have been avoiding cleaning like the plague!! But other stuff, like on Monday I went out and bought a massive pot of stuff to treat the fence, decking and wooden swing in the garden, also got some grass seed and feed as the lawns are looking a bit drab. Didnt actually get time to DO these, just bought the stuff ready.

Then yesterday I went out and bought 2 big massive pots of paint to decorate the kitchen and living room. Also bought a new hanging rail for the cupboard in the kids room to give them more hanging space, as at the moment loads of it is just stacked up in piles. Then I bought some new shelves and doors for the cupboard in the bathroom, been meaning to do this for ages as the others are falling down and weve got nowhere to store anything.

Now Im not sure if I have any intention of actually DOING these jobs, or whether I am just lining up stuff for the OH to do, to keep him outta my way? HHMMM...Either way, we have now got loads of stuff lined up to do, and dont know where to start or even if I want to. Its been raining overnight so cant really do the garden stuff at the mo...I never actually bought paintbrushes or rollers to go with the paint, so cant really decorate either....and Im not hanging shelves and doors by myself cos well its dangerous and I will cock it up!!!

Bit of a random post, I know, but do you think Im going mad?! And will these jobs ever get done?....

Haha, don’t think you’re going mad! I done similar stuff a while ago! OHs dad came over and fixed out bed which has been held up with books for ages! Cleared out all out cupboards and had a massive ebay clear out, became obsessed with storage and dragged OH up to Ikea to but storage things! Jars for the kitchen, under bed boxes, shelves, everything! I’ve been on and on to our letting agents about little bits of maintenance that have needed doing for ages too.

I am no way able to keep up with the cleaning as SPD and headaches are so bad now, but OH has caught the bug and spent FOUR hours hovering the other night!!! He had the bed up, sofas out, everything in a big pile so he could get to every little nook and cranny!!

This is my kind of nesting! We moved in ages ago and bought loads of stuff to do the bathroom and never got around to doing it all. Since I've given up work, we've (hmm, no I've) nearly finished the bathroom, the nursery (undecorated for years) needs only one coat of gloss on the door to finish it. The garden's looking better than ever, I can't believe it's taken this to make us motivated!

However, I've also had 'clean kitchen cupboard doors' on my to-do list for seven weeks, and that sounds easier!

Felt a bit guilty after buying everything and then leaving it for OH to do, so waited till weather cleared up this afternoon and got stuck into the garden. Have mowed the lawns, laid some seed and feed, stained all the wood on the decking and swing - couldnt be bothered with the fence! - and also been and stocked up my sons sandpit with some new sand! Feel absolutely shattered now, and probably totally overdone it, am having some major braxton hicks now but at least the garden looks nice. Or that is, it DID until my son got home from nursery and decided to scatter his toys all over the garden Ah well, at least he is happy
