I just want some advice on my little boy. He is just over 8 weeks old now. He is being formula fed. I think he is allergic to something in the forumulas. We have tried him on several different types and he has been on Aptamil 1 for about 4 weeks. After every feed he sort of writhes (in pain) and he throws up constantly - not projectile but sort of curdled milk that goes all over his clothes and stays in his mouth (looks like cottage cheese). I have to change him more or less every hour. He is a very fussy baby and will not sleep during the day and cries and moans a lot. I have tried infacol (mildly helpful but no major difference), SMA, Cow & Gate Comfort - (he got very constipated and spaced out and we had to take him to the GP), colief, etc. I am quite worried about him as I don't think this is normal. He also absolutely hates lying down whether it be on his back, front, side etc and basically wants to be held and jiggled 24-7 which is exhausting for me and OH. I get about 3 hours sleep per night and I am so  Fortunately he doesn't seem to be constipated and goes once a day although sometimes he has a dryish poo.

Does anyone know about iron-intolerance in babies and what the symptoms are? I am wondering whether this could be the problem, or lactose intolerance. He also has a spotty rash on his face for as long as I can remember.

I just want to see the calm, sleepy baby that I had in the first 2 weeks of his life. Its really getting me down as I am exhausted and want to be awake and happy for him.

Sounds as though it could be reflux to me. Ask your doctor to check him out.

The spotty rash on his face is probably becasause he's dribbling and being sick a lot.
The fussines could be a result of many different things. The only way to find out is by a process of illimination.
My first stop would be the docs/HV or whoever you go to for advise. Get him checked to rule out any medical cause. Then I would try changing the formula. My first DD had terrible colic in the beginning. She was breastfed and I was going around the twist. My HV recommended I cut dairy from my diet and it worked a treat. When I weaned her onto formula she had soya formula (pretty gross stuff!) and was fine with it. It could be iron but I don't know what the symptoms would be. It really is trial and error though I'm afraid. I hope things improve for you soon.

sounds like reflux to me as well - get him checkd out by GP i wouldnt bother with health visitor as she told me that it was normal - my son was similar to urs..hoever i managed to come across symptoms of reflux in mother and babymag - so i took him to gp who instantly diagnosed reflux he was put on infant gaviscon and cow and gate comfort both of these on prescription....he is now off gviscon and still co cow&gate comfort second stage which we are still getting free from doctor - so im not complaining saves me almost £10 a week  :cheer:

hope u get it sorted hun - please update us or PM if u want any more help
