Ford Focus 09 Car Seat and Base - Urgent!

Hello there!

We are expecting our first child in just over 3 weeks, we bought a car seat and base of eBay months ago, stupidly presuming it would fit! I have tried fitting it today and the legs of the base don't meet the floor (it's a Graco base in a Focus, after trawling the Internet I have discovered that the 2 of these are like chalk and cheese!!

Anyway. I have bought an isofix mounting kit from Ford which I'll be fitting tomorrow. But can any of you reccomend a safe base and seat which will definitely fit our 09 Focus?!

Pain in the ar*e at this time of the pregnancy but needs must. Thanks in advance

Hi I have major trouble getting seats to fit my car, seatbelt issue for me and old(ish) car so can't have isofix

The best thing I've found is going directly to halfords and getting them to fit seats for me. That way if it doesn't fit you haven't wasted any money or have to return it etc, and they have a good selection too. Also if you get them to check the item on their web site, if it's cheaper on there they do the order through their web site while you're in the store and give you the discount on top.

I just did this with the new seat we've bought for baby #2, was £30 cheaper on their site compared to in store!

I've just had the maxi-cosi cabriofix fitted, and it actually fitted really easily this time.

I have the graco base and am surprised it doesn't fit the focus. I have a vw polo and my husband an astra and it fits both cars. What a pain for you. I think I would go to either halfords or a ford dealership to get advice from them. Good luck - hope you get it sorted soon. Xx

My friend had problems with her focus apparently ford have very short seatbelts! She had the maxi cosi too and I had the recaro seat which also fitted in the focus!

Thanks for the replies, the seatbelts weren't really an issue for me. Just the leg on the base not fitting properly. I managed to get an isofix mounting kit from Ford so I fit that in the end and had to buy a new seat. Found it shocking how an 09 Focus is one of the most family orientated cars yet doesn't come with isofix as standard.

I had the same issue graco not fitting focus. So annoying I just put the seat in myself now

I know lots of people with maci cosi seats and isofix bases inc someone with a current focus. I'm sure a web search will help you double check that it does fit before you buy.
