Folic Acid

    Hi guys...
    Anyone know if we're supposed to take Folic acid all though pregnancy or stop taking it after week 12?

    mean to ask my doc but on holiday right now and just passed 12 weeks

    yay the magical second trimester is here!

    i was told by my doctor to take it for the first 12 weeks, its to prevent spina bifida in babies and the first 3 months is the time that it is most likley to happen.

    Yes its just the first 12 weeks, although if you take the pregnacare vitamin tablets they contain folic acid so will do you no harm. It just says you only have to take for first 3 months because that is when the baby is developing and it prevents neural tube defects. After that they baby has formed, ooh how cute !!!
