i want to make some flapjacks, have some lovely oats and some chocolate chips but have no golden syrup and can't go out to get some.
Am i screwed?

Can you not just use loads of butter instead?

To be honest I've never made them but oats, chocolate chips and melted butter sounds good  !

i don't think just butter would work, but you could be onto something. I wonder if i could make my own syrup solution out of butter and sugar...

Worth a shot seeing as syrup is basically liquid sugar

no, was going to, but the recipe consists of butter, sugar, golden syrup and oats. So if i made a syrup out of butter and sugar, the recipe would be butter, sugar, more butter, more sugar and oats :rotfl:

You can use honey.

I always make my flapjacks using half honey, half syrup. Gives them a really good texture. But can use all honey if you wanted.
