First Scan....

Hi everyone,

Was looking for a bit of advice, me and hubby have our first NHS scan today. We paid and had a private scan at 7 weeks due to past losses and am now 13 weeks 5 days. Any advice on anything we should expect, ask or do??

Hi, good luck, such an exciting day! Just make sure you have a full bladder so visibility is good, then enjoy seeing your baby! They'll take some measurements, confirm your dates, take the nuchal translucency measurement (if you've opted for screening tests) and that's pretty much it. Tell them if you want to take pictures home as if you get a nice sonographer they'll make the effort to get a good shot After you've finished they should direct you where to go to have your blood taken (again presuming you're having screening) and then in our case book in your 20 week scan there and then. They'll then send you on your merry way! Have a lovely time xx
