First MW appt today

I met my midwife today who was lovely
Her name was Clare and I'm pleased as she's so bubbly

I was there 75 minutes
Gave urine sample, bloods done, height, weight, blood pressure and BMI

As I'm overweight I need higher folic acid and further blood tests at 24 weeks, as well as extra scans at 28 and 32 weeks to check for gestational diabetes and potential growth issues

This morning though, there was fresh blood when I wiped
So I brought this up with the midwife
So she's now sending me for an early scan to check all is OK
Hopefully I'll get to see my little prawn

By my reckoning I'll be 7 weeks tomorrow
She seems to think I'm 6+4. I'll go with my original prediction
We will see though when I get measured I guess

Fingers crossed everything is OK

On the plus side, I now get free prescriptions and dentistry!

Congrats Mrs S! I had my booking appt yesterday. My midwife is also lovely. I didn't have to take a urine sample, but she did take plenty of blood! I'm low risk, so I have to wait until at least 12 weeks for my scan, but that can only be a good thing!

Got everything crossed for you that the bleeding turns out to be nothing and that your little prawn is safe and healthy xxx

I'm pretty sure it is nothing
Tmi but it was first wipe with fresh blood but nothing after that first wipe
All in all, apart from weight, I'd hope I'm low risk
Chances of a downs syndrome baby was like 1:1752 so that's good x

The urine sample bottle had powder in it , barium maybe? Not sure why it was needed

I had to give urine sample and a few blood samples too, think it's normal.
I didn't meet my midwife because she was off sick, but she was also my sister in laws midwife (who had twins) and she was off sick all the way through her pregnancy, so I might ask to change.

I have to be on 5mg Folic Acid because I have Epilepsy.

yep I have a pot with powder in that I have to fill before my scan lol

The powder is boric acid it preserves the wee for lab testing so leave it in. The bottle that mw gives for clinic is empty and just for dipstix tests.
