I'm having mine fitted this week and I'm messing myself cos I'm no good with needles. How painful is it? And what do they do. Thanks

*also, where do they inject the anaesthetic, is it where you have blood taken from, or is it on the site of the implant? Thanks*

It wasn't really that bad when I had mine in. The doctor had me lay down on the couch with my hand behind my head so she could get at the underside. Then she gave me a local anaesthetic and then used this thing like a hollow needle to push the implant in. I didn't watch her do that but all I felt was a pushing sensation - it only took seconds and didn't hurt at all. Then she put a bandage on and told me to leave it on for a day or two. It was a little bit tender but no more than if I'd got a small cut, it was a bit itchy too as it healed. Not bad at all!
