I want to breastfeed for as long as possible. My baby is due Aug 2nd, and I'm not going back to school probably until the beginning of October. So I will have at least 2 months of breastfeeding. However i'd really like to breastfeed until 6 months.I know you can get a breast pump and bottle it, but I wondered would this work for when I am at school? As in, could I express in the morning, and could the baby take it during the day?I leave home about 7.30 in the morning and I'm usually back between about 4-5pm,I know you can't leave pre-prepared formula for ages, but what would be the recommended duration for breastmilk? Or could i move baby on to formula for when I'm at school, and breastfeed the rest of the time? can you even go part formula part breast?

Ugh, I always do this, when my MW is here, i can never think of anything to ask her, when she goes, I suddenly find I have tons of questions..

I'm no expert but I am pretty sure you can store expressed breastmilk for a good few hours if you keep it in the fridge. You can also combine breast and formula, I suppose the potential problem with this might be your milk drying up a bit with you not feeding through the day? That said though, you could take a pump to school and express some off at breaks because I think that theres a law about nursing mothers at work which says that you have to be given breaks to express. I would presume the same will apply to school? Might be worth asking the schools policy or whatever. Sorry I cant give definate answers - I am sure theres someone on here who can be more help !

There is a law about the right to express .and feed your child others will know more..You can keep breast milk in the fridge for up to 24 hours ..

You wouldn't get enough off in the morning aswell as feeding your LO to go the whole day and alsoyou would need to express if you wanted to be able to feed during the day on a weekend.

i think they say up to 48hrs in the fridge and 3months in the freezer. i may be wrong.

yes, you wouldnt get enough off in the morning for the whole day. you would need to express while your at school, to make a stockpile for the next day. if that makes sense.

good luck :)

Oh good that's ok, because expressing at school should be no problem =] thanks
