    Hi Everyone,

Just wondered about testing and HCG levels etc.. I know its a morbid question [I am very paranoid after 3 m/c so far!] but if i am pregnant but the little bean has died or is not viable how quickly would the HCG levels drop to show a neg preg test?

Other question is cervical position during early pregnancy... mine seems very very low and firm.. is this OK?

    Thanks anyone / everyone!!

    xx

    Hiya Annamarie

HCG levels start to drop as soon as the pregnancy ends, but depending on how pregnant the woman is, the levels can take a while to return to normal. In a normal pregnancy HCG levels double every few days until this level peaks at around 12 weeks.

Although a high cervical position can be an indication of pregnancy in some women, for lots of women, their cervix will remain low until well into their pregnancy.

I'm sure everything is absolutey fine!!!!! - I know it's easily said though - I worries all the way through my pregnancy as I too had had 3 miscarriages previously.

    Hope this helps a little.

PS - Are you buying out Boots HPT's? - Gosh, I remember those days well - I did 7 tests with Ky over about two weeks, then got a Doppler so I could hear the H/B from about 10weeks - I was VERY paranoid!
Try not to torture yourself too much, by this stage a HPT won't tell you anything except you are pregnant.

Roll on your 12week scan eh? (Or are you having an early scan like I did?)

    Thanks Rachael,

I feel a little reassured.. thanks!
The cramps I am having are not the usual pregnancy niggles so I am still very worried but my boobs are still a bit tender and getting a bit queasy if I don't eat often.. and the bl**dy insomnia is killing me!! Not sure if it is due to stressing about the pregnancy or the peeing 10 times per night or just pregnancy itself but like clockwork I wake up at 2.30 am and fall asleep again around 5.. then my alarm goes off at 6 and I feel like I have been hit by a lorry.. but I have loads of energy during the day so god knows whats going on!!!!!!!

Its such a scary thing eh.. well done you for having Kyran.. you must be so relieved.. most people worry but when there have been miscarriages in the past it is petrifying!!

Yes I have been buying preg tests on ebay every week!!! I have done 8 so far with this pregnancy even though I know it won't tell me if the little bean is viable or not..

I have scan booked for Monday!!! I will be just 6 weeks then so not sure what to expect. Because I have been seeing the recurrent miscarriage specialist at the hospital EPU they have been great and said I can have early scans and can call them whenever I need a chat!!

Defo gonna get a doppler.. if we make it to Xmas then it will be a pressie for myself!!

I had an early scan following a miscarriage at 6 weeks in June this year and becoming pregnant again in August. We had a scan at just 7 weeks which showed the yolk sac and a little blob with a heartbeat. Every niggle and twinge was a worry and I still kept rushing to the loo expecting a bleed or something to go wrong.

Relax, I know its hard, take every day as it comes and look forwards to your scan.

    Hello

Oh thats good - I was under the EPU too - I has scans done fron 6weeks. At least the scan will give you some reassurance - All though the nausea, tender boobs and frequent urination are all good signs - I lost all these symptoms when my pregnancies ended - So things are looking good. Save some money and leave those HPTs alone!

Just remember that if you don't see a heartbeat at your scan Monday - It may just be too early, so don't panic.
As you can see from my scan at 6weeeks - There was hardly anything to see!

    Lotsa luck!
