So I have finally made it to my due date, no signs of LO making an apperance today but to be honest I am quite glad as I have been up all night with a completely gross cold!!! Plus my ear feels like its going to explode, is it dangerous for the baby for me to have a cold at this stage?

All I want to do is go back to bed so its hot milk and paracetamol for me, but should I get some antibiotics first? I dont want the baby to be born with a cold? But my common sense is telling me not to worry too much about it?? Anyone know if I should do something?

Hiya

The baby won't get your cold, and anti-biotics won't help as it's a virus. The best thing you can do is have some hot milk, maybe with honey in, and some paracetemol, and get as much rest as you can before the big event!

Pamper yourself, lots of fresh fruit (vitamin C), lots of water, and as much sleep as you can manage.

Get well soon and good luck!

hey lady!

Cant help you much on the cold front... but I can say happy due date to ya. Mine was yesterday and the frustration is starting to kick in!! hehe

Hope you feel better and we both start to feel some labour signs soon!!

Oh thanks so much, I didn't really feel like dragging myself down to the surgery, but I am not all that clued up on what can and can't harm the baby towards the end!

This mornings paracetamol is starting to kick in so I might get a few more hours sleep in a bit and try and be ready for the next 20 years of sleepless nights

Bring it on!!!!! xxxx

Happy due date Eve Schmeeve :cheer:

It's gone so quick! Hope little Clarky pants makes an appearance soon, and make sure you let me know!!!

Sorry about msn this morning I was painting the back door :) By the time I'd looked at the comp you'd gone!!!

I have a cold too, it's so annoying. i really hope your little one comes quick

I was told if the cold is effecting your sineases,t hen to have yourself checked out by the docs. Apparently the infection could cause a distress to the baby , saying this, your baby is fully grown and it shouldn't have an effect on it. However, you may want to get checked out, just incase the cold leaves you too tired to give birth to your LO when it's time to come.

I went overdue, and 2 days before I went in to be induced, OH got a stinking cold, he was really awful...I was so worried incase they wouldnt let him come in with me....I got it the next day and felt vile...

To be honest I was fine, I soon forgot about it!! I had a hacking cough which disturbed my rest (I hadnt progressed by 11pm so they sent OH home for sleep and I tried to sleep too...) the lovely midwives gave me some warm mint linctus stuff which helped, and I managed to rest a bit.

Ruby had a cold when she was a few weeks old, but handled it so well, and she had a stinking one last week, again she was so brave. She handled it better than me, Ive caught it now and I am in a right state!!! Lost my voice, cant sleep for coughing and I have gone deaf in one ear!!!

Tey and rest as much as you can, and thats an order !!!!
