Do you wind when feeding at night?

I am currently 2 nights into a new 'sleep plan' with my LO, I breastfeed and usually feed her twice in the night, I have been advised to wind her after the feeds so that she is not waking because of discomfort but of course this wakes her up with a bit of a jolt after a nice sleepy feed and I feel dead mean! I always try to put her down before she is fully asleep anyway but this really wakes her and makes it more difficult to get her settled. What does everyone else do? Not sure whether to leave her nice and sleepy and hope for the best re. wind or get rid of potential burps and hope she gets used to this process and settles?

Personally i let LO fall asleep on boob and then leave him until he wakes for next feed which is usually 5/6am and have no problems with him being woken by any discomfert in between. He's usually a little sick after the first moning burp but nothing major. If i burped him after the night feeds he'd never go back to sleep! I sleep on a towell so if he's sick/dribbles while feeding in bed theres no mess.xx

That is exactly what I was doing until 2 days ago! we were co-sleeping but LO started waking every hour or sometimes more to latch on for a bit of comfort, decided in the end nothing for it but to move her to the cot so that is what I am working on - hence have never had to feed her sitting and then lay her down before!

I no its hard isnt it, a part of me really wants to put him on his own, but then we'd lose the current routine of letting him fall asleep on there and leave him to it :wall: xx

I don't wind Chloe after her night time feeds just pop her over my shoulder while I take her back to her cot, most of the time she winds herself this way without waking up.

If my LO had a feed at night unless he was awake I never worried about winding him. If he woke and had a feed and fell back to sleep on my boob because he was relaxed he never used to guzzle and suck down air anyways. So winding wasn't needed.

I'd not wind personally if your LO is sleeping. Just let her feed and when she is done you could always just hold her for a few minutes more to make sure she is settled and then pop her back in her bed. If she really needs winding she'll be sure to let you know. My LO would sometimes stir about an hour later and yell and I'd wind him then and he'd go straight back to sleep then.

FWIW I always used to feed sat upright and LO would lie on a pillow. Did so till he was 5 months old this way. If he wakes in the night now he is older and needs a feed I feed him in bed lying down.

I've never really bothered with winding at night unless they wake and seem like they need it. When they've had colds and are constantly latching on and off they've got a bit of wind at night but usually they've just suckled themselves to sleep and I've never found it to be a problem.

Id say it depends on the baby really, as some hold more wind in than others. If yours is generally a windy baby and you have to work to get it out, then Id say wind them, otherwise no. Ive breastfed both of mine and neither has been particularly windy so I dont bother. Even during the day, Eden burps really well by herself, sometimes whilst she is feeding or otherwise as soon as I get her upright so Ive never had to work at it. Generally if she feeds in the night, which is a bit unusual now, I just pop her back to bed when she has finished without winding her. She is quick enough to let me know if she is uncomfortable, so I can generally tell if she needs it or not :D
