My son is 2 weeks old today and has regained his birth weight.

Does anyone know when I can start letting him determine when he's fed rather than waking him every 3 hours? I forgot to ask the midwife today :S

Thanks in advance,

Katie

I'm pretty sure we switched to demand feeding once ours regained her birth weight. So nice not having to wake to feed.

Once A regained birth weight I stopped setting my alarm, I found I was never getting as far as my alarm going off before he woke me up for a feed anyway!! x

I'm the same as hd. Stopped setting an alarm once birth weight regained and it's only in last two weeks or so that she has started to go longer than 3 hours. Sometimes I get 4 or 5 hours but mostly still 2 or 3 x

Thanks.

I went to a breastfeeding support group yesterday who said to ensure still feeding him every 3 hours. I've started leaving him to wake himself up at night though and he's getting more feeds in during the day so hopefully it all balances out.
