Is she breastfed or on formula? Have you tried changing her milk at all? My HV has also suggested prune juice to me in the past.

I feel for you hun, James is currently having some really hard stools (due to weaning) and he has been literally sobbing in my arms - and I've been sobbing too.

It actually exhausts him to go, poor little baby. However James is in no discomfort before and after - it's just the poo's are too big for his little bumhole

Water works for us and softens things up, but I have had OJ and prune juice suggested to me (diluted)

Your LO is so young though I would personally just stick to water.

I hope your hospital appointment helps find the solution. It is horrid seeing them in pain.

xxxxxx

Sorry forgot to say she is on bottle an changed to cow an gate comfort

I have heard of a trick using a cotton bud and some vaseline...but I'm not aware if it is something only a GP should do...? Hopefully someone might be able to advise you better xx

Clairebear i'm so sorry to hear your little one is suffering with such bad constipation :(

Other than what has been suggested to you i don't know what else you can do with her being so young. Have you tried a warm bath and tummy/bum massage...maybe the combination of relaxing bath and bowel stimulation might help her go in a little more comfort?

Did she suffer constipation before being put on comfort milk? May be it's not agreeing with her? You could try a stage 1 milk with colief/dentinox drops or even use gripe water now she's old enough to help with colic/wind pains? That's if it's the milk causing it.

hopefully the appointment at the hospital will shed more light. I do feel for both of you, it's awful to see them in so much pain. I have the other dreaded problem of wind :( It causes H so much discomfort. I'm about to post a thread to see if there is anything else i can do to help him.
