Confused

Hi there - wondered if anyone has any light to shed on my situatiuon which would help put my mind at rest?!

Found out 29th December that I was PG - actually went to the Docs as I thought I had a gastric issue as my tummy was swollen and I was suffering from nausea!

Hadn't been TTC but not preventing it either, I have a major medical issue which is controlled by medication. Also I am 40 and have had 3 MC's so never thought we would be in this position again.

Had my booking in appt with the MW and told my first scan would be 12 weeks and Consultant led due to medical condition and not before as Doc had suggested as dates were not certain.

Anyway last Friday I awoke to a feeling of not being pregnant at all, no nausea, no swollen boobs but still a hugely swollen tummy. Monday I had sharp pains in my tum, but they stopped and no bleeding at all.

Spoke to MW and had to fight for an early scan with EPAU, all MW would say was well you have to expect these things happen at your age............

I had my scan yesterday and they said the sack was more like just 5 weeks NOT 8 weeks that I was yesterday and no clear picture of anything else. So I had blood tests done and got a phone call this morning to go back tomorrow to see if the levels are going up or down after 48 hours.

So I'm left feeling somewhat confused. Has the pregnancy not developed? Will I MC again?

Hello Cazza

The blood tests should confirm whats happening, I had a m/c in Nov but when I went for my scan there was nothing there. When I had a blood test done my pregnancy hormone level was only at 3000 @ 10 weeks PG when it should have been around 85000, it did continue to fall.

If the levels increase thats a positive.... So fingers crossed for you hun sending you a big hug

Hey. Yip def nearly same story as mine. So wrong to be told that you can expect these things at 40. Age is only a number and how many ladies out there are waiting til now to have babies?? Really hope yours turns out good and that dates are wrong. xxx

As for my age - well my Dr was fab it was just the MW who was very dismissive, usually I'm quite up front and confident but over recent weeks not so strong..............I would normally have given her a piece of my mind but just felt silly and my lip was trembling!

Just want to get tomorrow over with and see what the results say, we are supposed to be going on holiday on Tuesday......

Well I'm still no further forward..............despite spending 6 hours at the hospital today!!

Went in as arranged at 12 to have bloods taken, which happened at 1pm, then had to wait til 5.45pm to see a doctor.

Todays tests came back with an increase in the hcg levels, not the doubling they would normally see though.

They want me to go back on Monday to have more scans to determine what the heck is going on.

So back to being confused

Aww hun I hope your ok!

The way I see it is your levels are increasing which is good, everybody is different so yours might not increase as much as somebody else but fingers crossed for you and good luck for the scan.
