CM question...

Hi all,

So, this month I'm going chart CM but was just wondering, how can you tell the difference between EWCM and sperm that has leaked out (sorry - bit gross!)?

I'm thinking this because we'll start BDing a week before my estimated ovulation date so that will make it difficult to see what CM is around...?

Only thing I can add to this is that when I check for Cm signs within a few hours after weve BD's if its at the EWCM stage then its likely to be EWCM and not semen....dont think semen stretches quite like EWCM....BUT.....this I am going to check tonight lol!! TMI but I will report back when I have an answer lol good luck everyone about to start BD'ing again and those due to test in next few days.....BFP all roung I hope xxx

Thanks Wilma. I've just found this on FF site with regards to charting CM:

If you find that you have more watery or eggwhite days than you would expect and that these often follow days or nights that you had intercourse, then you may be mistaking seminal and cervical fluid. They have similar properties because they share the same function: transporting and nourishing sperm. You will find, however, that fertile cervical fluid (eggwhite) is more clear and stretchy and shiny. It will stretch a couple of inches without breaking. Semen may be more whitish and is more likely to break when pulled.

If you are in doubt and it is near your fertile time, always record eggwhite cervical fluid, even if it may be obscured by seminal fluid. This way, you will not miss a potentially fertile time. Emitting semen immediately after intercourse by doing kegel exercises (which is sometimes recommended for people who are charting to avoid pregnancy so that cervical fluid is not obscured) is not recommended when you are trying to conceive. While most sperm reach their destination within your reproductive tract quite quickly after intercourse, you don't want to sacrifice your chances of conception to have a perfect chart.

Thanks for that SPC. Always been confused about that as well.

I find it easier to track CM after a BM (tmi) or exercise.

Who checks CP?

Ive tried a couple of times but find it difficult to notice a difference but DH has said he can tell if its high or lower down (sorry tmi) but I couldnt tell so asked him to see if he could and at different times during cycle he can notice a difference!

Going to try and keep a track of everything this month but lord theres so much to note!!

Doing temps....CM, going to try and monitor CP and OPK, not taking any chances lol!

So whos doing what?

Well I suppose as long as we everyday it wont matter so much if i miss any of the rest of the observations.....and here was I saying I WASNT going to become obsessed about TTC" Fat chance!! lol xx

yeah, BMs are supposed to help the cervix produce more CM and the muscles squeeze it out (tmi lol)

I check CP but find somedays that i cant find it easily either. Its supposed to be harder to track CP if you have already had kids as the cervix is always a little bit open.

Lots of tracking to do for you Wilma lol

Ill just be tracking CM and maybe CP and just everday and hope for the best xx

Hmmmm thought it was only me who couldnt locate CP all the time lol...might give that one a miss it seems to fussy! lol!! Yup think I will go with the easy and fun stuff....so lots of and will check CM and Ov sticks...that ought to do it lol xxx

Sorry guys I'm new so bear with, but the cm, when people say stretchy, how stretchys stetchy. And how much of it should there be if your at your fertile time

Hi Toni

It means that it should look like raw egg whites and you should be able to seperate it with both fingers and it will stretch up to 2 inches (i think lol)
