Hi

I am new to this site and am looking for some advice. I found out I was pregnant last Thursday but them found some blood on Friday when I went to the loo. That was all the red blood I had although I had a few bits of spotting of old blood over the weekend. I haven't really had any cramps with it. I called my doctor and had an early scan yesterday. They said they couldnt see my uterus at first as my bladder was too full. So i had to go part empty it and then they scanned again. They still couldnt see anything so I had to go to the loo again and this time provide a sample. The sample tested negative so they told me I had a biochemical pregnacy/miscarriage.

We were obviously gutted but were told it is very commmon and doesn't mean everything wont be fine next time.

This morning I decided I needed to see a negative test for myself so used a spare test I had at home. To my confusion I found that it was positive. I went straight to my GP who told me that it is probably positive as I may still have some of the prenancy chemicals in me. I now have to wait to see if i get my period or if not test again in two weeks. If i am still showing as pregnant they will carry out some tests.

There wasn't much blood with the miscarriage so I guess I must have been early on ( it had been 6 weeks since my last period but my cycle has been very irregular since coming off the pill in May).

It is all a bit of a nightmare and I am trying to come to terms with the miscarriage. I just wondered if anyone else has had a similar experience.

I still have lots of preganancy symtoms and just wondered when these might go and how long we should wait before trying again?

Anyway I would love to hear from anyone who has had a similar experience or has some advice.

Z xx

Welcome to the forum and sorry you're having a rough time

It may just be as your Dr said but other explainations might be a twin pregnancy where only 1 baby MCd - unlikely as you've had a scan - or a molar pregnancy but these are incredibly rare so I'd be surprised it it were that either.

What kind of test did you use? You could get a couple of cheap ones and test with one then test again at same time a week later and see how the lines compare ie are they getting darker or lighter.

Keep in touch with your GP as they do sound quite sympathetic compared to some we hear about. Take them up on the tests if you're not bled properly in the next 2 weeks.

Thank you for your advice. I used just a regular test from the Boots chemist. I thought the test I did today was darker than last week but I cant be sure.

I guess I will just keep testing at weekly intervals and see what happens. I am lucky with my GP Surgery as all the doctors there are great.

Thanks again x
