Can't Believe It - UPDATED :)

Just as I start to relax into the pregnancy after the early scan I go swimming this afternoon and then when I got out I went to the loo and had a bit of red spotting
Its a really small amount so far and no pains/cramps at the moment but its such a horrible thing to see. Happened after the docs was closed so at the moment I am waiting it out and hoping that it doesn't get any worse and goes away quickly.
Just wondering though - its about 48hrs since me and DH had sex and last time I had the spotting that was also a couple of days after sex - do you think that could explain it? Or if you get spotting because of sex does it usually come very soon after?
Can't help but be really worried I am about to lose little bean and DH is back at work so away until friday night

aww if its isnt much im sure its ok, a couple of weeks ago when i didnt know i was pregnant i had brown/red discharge coming out after sex but i just thought it was left over blood from my period but it cant of been coz i didnt have a period that month- doh! so it must have been spotting when i look back... but ive had nothing since and im not much further on than u... i would have worried then if i knew i was pregnant but coz i didnt know i left it and all has been fine since ... xxxxx hugs xxxxx

Try not to worry (easier said than done I know). You saw the heartbeat at your scan which is a great sign.

Hope it eases off hun, spotting is quite normal unfortunately, sometimes they don't even know why it happens which is so frustrating. You have no pain which is a good thing, just take it easy and keep an eye on it babe xx

hi lovely its hard not too worry but at 8 weeks i had the same lovely i had red spotting that lasted a day then turned brown for about three days!! the fact you have seen a heartbeat is good news!! hope it settles down and stops for you xx

I've heard that the cervix can get irritated by sex and cause spotting?

Thanks everyone, haven't had any spotting for a while now (going to the loo far too often! ) so I am hoping it has stopped and is going to stay stopped! Absolutely knackered but also a bit scared that when I wake up there will be more blood - silly I know as worrying wont change anything. Not sleeping very well at the moment anyway - dont think this will help !!

If you're worried in the morning, have you an EPU at your hospital? With mine if you ring in the morning they fit you in for a scan if you've had pain/bleeding.

Well nothing now I've got up which is good. Have to work all day today (I have the kind of job that I can't take time off during the days that I am on watch as I am the senior person in) so will try and find time to call the doctor and see what he says and whether he wants to send me to the epu again. Really hope it stays away today.

Well doctor phoned me back, told him about the spotting, he didn't seem too concerned because it was a small amount and no pains/cramps. Phoning again in the morning to see if I have had any more. If not then I think I am just going to have to wait it out and hope that all is well.
Have done some googling and apparently it is pretty normal to have some spotting in week 7 as the baby is burrowing even further in to the uterus so I am really hoping that this is what my little bean is up to in there!!!!

Glad everything seems ok Spotting after sex is also quite common as more blood flows to your cervix while you're pregnant x

So had a tiny tiny bit of brownish spotting today but only when I wiped once, so hoping that was something left over from the other day. Spoke to doctor again this morning as I have had a couple of cramps, which I know is normal but with the spotting its just getting me a little worried. Anyway, have got an appointment with epu for Tuesday 1140 - can't have it any earlier because of the bank holiday weekend! So if nothing bad happens over the next few days I should be 8+1weeks when I go to the epu. Really hope that it is all okay.

Thanks KL, yeah I'm questioning everything. Have been feeling pretty sick this weekend though, which I am taking as a good sign. Have got the scan on Tues which I am hoping will put my mind at ease a bit. Just want this little bean to be safe and well, don't think that I will start to enjoy this properly until I am out of the 1st Tri danger zone. Can't wait to see that 12 week scan and know its ok!!! Am luckily busy tomorrow (going to badminton show jumping) so hope that I can get to tues without worrying too much
