bloomin council, is this right

I sent the council my rent via cheque on tuesday. they recieved it wednesday and it went through my bank today (friday), is that correct because i thought that it took four working days.

so now the cheque wont clear as i dont get paid until monday. bloody £50 fine for being over drawn.

Eek! When I do that I date my cheques the day I get paid!



It may be cheaper for you to cancel the cheque? Although cheques usually take 3 working days to 'clear'!

I'd ring the bank an see whats best

Tell them the council were advised not to cash the check until such a day & it appears they have ... They might help you regarding the charges

i am with the woolwich and i havent got all the codes that i need when i call but i will go into the branch tomorrow, thanks for the advice wobbles. let you know what happens afterwards

It comes out of your bank straight away, just doesn't reach theirs for 3-5 days. I hate banks and their stupid charges, they're extortionate!!
