Hello all

I get my blood results tomorrow for the long cycles Iv been having (40-50 days) and the fact I don't think I'm ovulating, is there anything I should be asking? Is there anything specific that could indicate PCOS? I'm sure they will know but i just like to understand what I'm talking about

Thanks X

Hello all

High testosterone levels indicated it with my results. I didn't have many symptoms, just irregular cycles, a lot of pain, the high testosterone and then cysts once I got an ultrasound

Iv had pains but can't really describe where they are just "down below" I hope they find out what's going on today!

Hi

They initially told me I was ovulating and everything was fine but when someone else looked at my hormone profile they said I had typical PCOS?! So I don't know... In hindsight I'm not sure I was actually ovulating! The scan showed cysts on my ovaries though and I had a lot of spotting through the month. Like Kitty, my periods were really painful (the cramps - at times I'd be sick and need to be off work). My cycle was only 24 days but no other symptoms.

Were they checking to see if you ovulated? Long and irregular cycles are a symptom but so many doctors just brush off stuff like this. It took me years of pushing to get a diagnosis. X

So my bloods all came back normal. There's 1 blood result still to come back from a fertility specialist. So does this mean I can't have PCOS?! She said she was going to do another blood test 10 days after my next period to see if I'm ovulating or not - as bloods can't show if I am or not

Don't feel like Iv got much further

Meh :(

Not necessarily, it depends what she was testing? It sounds like they tested for ovulation too but they maybe weren't done on the right day so wouldn't show?

I guess the fertility specialist results will be clearer, plus the ovulation test. It might be worth asking exactly what they tested if they come back normal again. X

And for numbers too as 'normal' can be a wide range!

Did you find out if they tested your FSH levels? Maybe ask if that's what is to come back from the fertility specialist? Also did they bloods get taken before AF showed up or after as that can make a huge difference, I was brushed off for years, was convinced it was pcos as symptoms are similar. They seem to ignore you unless you see the right doctor who asks for the right tests. Also maybe ask for a scan at local hospital to see if that shows anything up x

She never said anything about FSH levels, just that they did a full blood count. I was actually on my period when I got them done - They came on day 50! So I'm interested to see what CD they come this month.

Have you asked for an ultrasound? They can also do an internal one why you are there too (doesn't hurt) and they take pictures of the ovaries.
