So im 15 weeks .. Saw midwife and gp yesterday.
Firstly been havin slight bleeds told midwife and shes booked me in for my 3rd! Yes 3rd emergency scan.. So firstly has anyone else bled all thru early stages? And has anyone had anythin similar? Any advice? Cause im kinda gettin worried bubs is ok on every scan.. Maybe its just me stressin?!

Also i feel like a complete nutter.. Ive been put on citalopram and given me a sick note for work .. Firstly how does the whole sick pay process work for casual workers however im classed as casual but pay ni and tax due to amount of hours i actually work (i have googled this and not really understood it) so basically wondering if anyone else has been in this situation and how things on the old money side worked..
Secondly anyone took citalopram? How long does it take to work? Is it addictive?

Thanksss xx

And the one thing i thort they would do .. Obz the heart beat is beating but neither me or oh have listened neither have the hosp docs or midwife .. So really wat if the babies under stress n the heartbeats funny or somthin ..
And i dont really want this but .. Wouldnt you have thought they epuld have swobbed me?

Hi, I had three heavy bleeds in Tri2, one at 15 weeks, one at 16+4 and one at 18 weeks. Its more common that we realise. Each time I thought I was going to loose Pickle. I had an emergency scan too and was told that everything was fine so it must have been coming from lower down in my cervix. I;ve dont lots of reading on the matter and it can be caused by all the extra blood down there either causing polyps which bleed or enlarged blood vessels that will also bleed when under extra strain. I was signed off for a week with the first bleed as it was clotty too.

I'm sorry I dont know anything about claiming back SSP, could your HR or Payroll Manager help you with that?

Easier said than done but try not to stress as it wont help and keep resting as much as you can. Dont lift anything heavy.
xx

I've been on Citalopram before..

I found they took a good 2-3 weeks to work.... I didn't find them addictive, but I just stopped taking them one day when I felt happier in myself and since then touch wood I haven't needed them!

See how you go :) xxx

Hey hun try and please try not to panic, i have have a total of 7 scans in this pregnacy 3 of those were emergancy and another one to check baby had grown, i had a bad bleed at 13+2 were the stupid a and e doctor told me i could be miscarrying but turned out to be one of those things had another bit of blood a few weeks later but it calmed down after an hour or two then had spotting around 20 weeks had my 20 week scan a few days later and he is perfect and healthy, bleeding can be caused be something as little as a blood vessle bursting or an irritated cervix, and i was on and off citalopam for four years due to pnd and just came off them before i got pregnant please dont ever just stop taking them as they can cause side effects and as long as you stick to what your doctor says you will be fine and you will slowly be decreased off them so your body can adjust to it when there no longer needed they usually take about 4-6 weeks to take effect, if you are before 16 weeks they usually wont even attempt to find the hb on a doppler as it can be extremely hard to find they will have a quick listen at the scan or record a bit of it and look to see if its normal and will be able to tell just by looking at the heart beat x

I took citalopram two different times. First for a year or so, then another time for 6 months. They definitely take a good few weeks to work (I think I took the full 6 weeks to feel effects). Definitely stick with them they do work. When I stopped taking them the second time round (after 6 months on them) I thought I was havin a 'relapse' and was turning into a nutter (again!!) I was tearful and dare I say it almost suicidal, however after 10-14 days of feeling crap I was totally fine. I was advised by doc to just stop, not decrease amount. So I don't know if this was why I had bad withdrawals. I wasn't aware of withdrawal affects as the first time I stopped I was fine, but I wish I had known cos I wouldn't have got myself do wound up. This is just my experience and not the same for everyone. The benefits of citalopram outway the withdrawal side affects by far. I would have no hesitation in using this medication again although I hope I don't need to.

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon. Chin up xxxxxx

Thankyouu ladies :) ..
Think in gettin abit away in my head! Feeling like a nutter loool ..
Xx

I was on citaloprams highest dose when I found out I was pg and doctor cut me down to half dosage for 2 weeks. Please don't just stop taking them ever as said by elisesmum, as you will just plummet in to a very sorry state. K8O I think your doctor was very silly to tell you to sop immediately but I suppose it is done now. Ceebump you are Definitly not a loon, congrats on pg! :) xxx
