Hey hunni my roots need doing reaaaalllyyy badly my hairdresser said bleaching is fine in pregnancy the only prob you may have is the colour not being exactly how you want it due to hormone changes and to not get bleach on your scalp cos it may be extra sensitive, apart from that its fine,

Dont know bout fake tans etc xxx

as a hairdresser i wud dye my own and clients hair if they wish no prob, also there is a chance mightnt develop correctly but in saying that ive NEVER seen it happen or even heard of it happening to anyone i actually know, i used tans..xx

I use fake tan, although i doesnt make me as brown now as it did before :( i did want to ask about dying my hair though xx

My Hairdresser said it was fine to still bleach my hair but my dcotor said not to that it can enter your system via ur scalp and also even breating in he fumes can be dangerous, She said if i isnisted on doing my hair to do a dark colour that had much less amonia in it

SO i decided to do that, well turns out i am one of the people whos hair doesnt take right when pg and it ended up iluminous red, Not the nice in fashion red a horrid clown wig red :-( eventually got it a half normal colour and am due back to try again this week

Not used Tan yet but thinkin id like to as iv gone very very pale due to the constant exhaustion and vomiting i think, so much for a pregnant glow???

I've tried to avoid as many chemicals as possible for 1st 12 weeks so OH done the cleaning and not used hair dye or even painted my nails but that is just me being over paranoid. I will relax my rules a bit now I'm 12 weeks.

Oh and keep posting threads Apple, we love them.

ive bleached my hair with DD and this pregnancy, no problems,
i have read however if your going to use hair dye and fake tans,
rub on fake tans are better as ur not breathing in the spray tan
and as for bleaching, foils are better as it doesnt touch the scalp :) xx

Tanning is the same as hair, it may not have the same affect as before, it's to do with body temporature with the mainly. Another thing to be aware of is in any beauty therapy training we are told not to carryout a treatment until after the 3 month mark. This has nothing to do with harming the baby, it's because you're hormone levels are all over the place and you can have reactions/ develop allergic reactions to products that you were fine with before. Saying that I have continued having my treatments done and so far so good.

Good info there Kirsty thanks, I have my hair dye ready to use, im just too scared to do it lol xx

Thanks for ur replies might leave it a while til 12 weeks and go brown for rest my pregnancy. Ive kept away from most things trying not to use purfumes etc.

Mustard u lil gem u make me laf thanks for ur nice comment :)

I've been exactly the same as Mustard - for the first 12 weeks I was ultra careful - and tried to steer clear of any chemicals at all. (Good excuse to get hubby to do the housework anyway!)

My roots were horrendous by 12 weeks but I was determined not to dye my hair until then. Then I bought a 'kinder' more natural dye with no ammonia (rather than the agressive stuff I usually use) and made sure the room was really well ventilated, etc. I will now continue to dye my hair using the ammonia-free dye throughout the pregnancy.

I think I probably am just ultra-paranoid, but I personally wouldn't use fake tan until at least 12 weeks have passed. I didn't even use any perfume, scented body lotions, etc. Think I really am just an incessant worrier! Hehe!
