Birth plans and hospital bags!

Just wondering has everyone around the same time as me done any of these?

Basically as far as the birth goes I don't really have much of a plan! I want gas and air and see how I go as far as other pain relief, I really don't want an epidural as it stands but obviously i dont know how i will cope. Also i want my baby given to me straight away for skin to skin and also I want my OH to tell me the sex. That's about it, as for birth positions etc I just wanna go with the flow. Do I just write what I have just said?

An when is a good time to pack hospital bag? Last time I saw midwife I mentioned I was going to a wedding the 2nd weekend in may and staying in south Wales for the weekend, il be nearly 34weeks. She said I should think about taking my hospital bag with me, it's better to be safe than sorry.*

My hospital bag has been packed since 34 weeks, I'm glad that I had done it really as I ended up in hospital the week after for an overnight stop! So yes pack your bag and don't forget to take your notes with you.

As for the birth plan, I did mine in bullet points. Not that the midwives have ever read them before! I put down that I wanted to try birthing pool, to be as mobile as I can and for baby to be delivered onto me and hubby to cut the chord. Also I put down I wanted the injection to make the placenta come away and for baby to have the vit k injection. I liked making my birth plan because its got me organised in my head. I've tried not to be too rigid in what I've written because I know that I have to keep an open mind as to what can happen.

Thanks! U just reminded me I need to have a proper discussion with OH about cutting the cord and see if this is something he wants to do. U also just answered my next 2 questions about the placenta injection and vitamin k injection. I'm gonna read up more on these but I think from what I can gather up to now that I'm happy to have them both!

I don't have a birth plan because i've never experienced labour and plan on just going with the flow and see whats best for me at the time.

I haven't packed my hospital bag yet but I have packed baby's, only because I had to put all of his clothes away in boxes last week while my OH does his nursery so I thought I should pack his hospital bag as I go rather than having to get stuff back out of boxes nearer the time. I need a few more bits for my hospital bag and then i'll be packing it. x

Well I've not bought anything yet to pack a bag with. will probably get round to it at about 34 weeks after my next midwife appointment.

As for a birth plan I'm just going to go with whatever. I'm easy! lol. As long as they don't make me stay on the bed I will be fine. I HATED having to give birth on my back last time. Apart from that I'm hoping to stay at home until the very very last minute even though the hospital is like 40 -45 mins away without rush hour traffic. lol.

Yeah that's what I feel like, like I'm writing something I don't even know anything about. I don't want anything to be set in stone apart from OH telling me boy or girl and having baby given straight to me as long as everything goes smoothly! Everything else I'm pretty easy with, I'll just see how it goes.

I haven't bought things for my hospital bag yet either! Can I just ask what kind of coming home clothes/outfit u have got for baby and in what size?! Sorry to be a pain!

My boy's going home outfit is a vest, a Humphrey's Corner romper suit & a pair of socks. I'll be taking a blanket but I doubt i'll need to use it in June, plus we only live 3 mins away from hospital so it's only a quick trip home! Everything i've bought him for when he's born is 0-3 months, i've been told he'll be 'average' in size so didn't want to buy newborn for it not to last long. Plus if his 0-3 month clothes are a little big then they'll last him a bit longer!

I do have a pack of 3-6 months vests and baby gro's just incase he's a little porker! x

Aww I love the Humphrey's corner stuff, we have got the herbs garden theme going on!

That's what I've got, it's a 2 piece set from mothercare, a vest and I'm guessing u would call it a romper over the top! I'm only literally 2mins from hospital too so OH can always pop home for extra bits if needs be. Xxx

I'm obsessed with Humphrey!

The theme for his room is going to be Humphrey's Corner 'Little Red Car'. My OH is plastering it at the moment before painting it and I can't wait to get in there to make his cot up etc! x

erm I've not bought any baby stuff yet either so haven't planned what the baby is wearing.. I think I'm the most unorganized pregnant women ever!

U have made me feel so much better! I feel so organised now! Haha.

It's all so confusing I think, vests, short sleeve bodysuits... I could go on. I just don't know how they are much different and when to dress the baby in what. Hope it just comes to me.

i printed a birth plan from the cow and gate website and the midwife said it was one of the best she ha seen as just had the main bits needed by mw to give u what care u want x

bags packed at around 28 weeks i think? with my first i packed them at 20 i was so excited lol!! but as for birth plan all i have is to show up on the section date

Haha that's what I was like when I started writing my first post... Thinking I don't even have anything to put an the more I wrote I thought oh my god I've got loads! I have midwife tomorrow too so I'm gonna speak to her about it too! Xxx

I haven't packed my bag but I have most stuff in it if that makes sense.? Its just not tidy and organised. I haven't packed baby's bag yet either - I want to wash everything first. I am taking a newborn babygrow, hat and mittens and 0-3 vests and 0-3 sleepsuits and a blanket and muslin cloths.

I packed mine about 34 weeks hut I was buying little things for a few weeks before just to chuck in. Still need to put pjs and a top in for coming home.
I don't have a proper birth plan either, just go with the flow. At the back of my notes there is questions about labour, so the only things I put in is that I want an injection to deliver the placenta, I'm happy for baby to have vit k and I'd like skin to skin as soon as I can.

Mines still not packedd properly.. Babys is done just need to sort mine but as I have very limited clothes etc I will just have to see whats clean on the day Ii go into lobour lol... Will have to sort the rest of the stuff for my bag soon though :S

My birth plan is just to do what I want at the time, Ill just tell them.

glad I made you feel better. It is confusing that is another reason I haven't bought anything I'm just stuck as to what to buy and there is too much to choose from... Sure I will get there in the end or the baby is going to be wearing a plastic bag as its going home outfit! lol
