Hi ladies, Have you bought your steriliser yet? Which one do you think is best? I was tempted by the microwave avent one because it's smaller... but I don't know... ...What do you say?
My steam steriliser packed up but it had done 2 other babies before making it to me We replaced it with the TT microwave one which I loved. Quicker, cleaner, less hassle and we stored it out of the way inside the microwave when we weren't using it.
I've got both the Tommee Tippee electric and Microwave sterilisers. I've used the electric one once as the microwave one is just so much simpler. Just add water and put in the microwave and voila! -I also like that it stays hidden away in the microwave rather than another appliance on the counter.
There all pretty good nowadays, but definitely get the tommee tippee sterilizer if you have their bottles -their odd shape doesnrt fit into Avent properly I prefer the electric ones as a prefernce.
at mo ive just got the tt microwave one if i need to breast feed then i may have to get an electric one
I've been given a Lindem Steam steriliser... but I still went out and brought a cold water one from Milton. I had an Advent microwave one with Tia and it was just a waste of money tbh. The cold water one met my needs much more because I could put things in to sterilise and they'd still be sterile 24 hours later even if you took things out... where as the microwave one, the moment you opened the lid... you have to use everything there and then. As I was only using bottles occasionally to make up top up feeds or give breast milk to others, I wasn't using bulk sterilisation, so it was just a waste of time. And sometimes, if I needed something quick... I'd just stick it in some boiling water for 5 minutes, basically the old fashioned way
Couldn't agree more, I love my microwave one its so simple and its hidden when not in use, especially if you're pushed for storage like me. I used to have an avent steam one when millie was a baby and I hated it. Another plus side to micro sterilisers is that you don't have to de-lime them, just simply wash it with the rest of the washing up! Microwave sterilisers- they're the way forward!!
Tesco got the tommee tippee microwave/coldwater steriliser reduced to £10 at the mo. You also get £18 worth free of bottles and brush etc so defo worth it. I've had cold water and steam previously, saw this one and bought it as i prefer the cold water but got the option to quick micro sterilise if i need to.
mines both microwave and cold water, havent tried it yet it's still on top of the wardrobe, been asking o/h to get it down for the last 3 weeks......
I've got the Boots own electric one, my SIL got it for me. Not sure what it's like but she used it for my neice and said it was alright so we'll see!
I have the Avent steam sterilser. I had it for my first 2 and loved it so much I have bought it again from babies r us as it was on offer with breast pump 6 bottles 2 training cups 2 dummies etc. Great value the whole lot was £50
I have the avent steam steriliser too, a lot of my friends recommended it as being the best. My mum said she had one for my bro when he was a baby (17 yrs ago!) and found it great...considering they're still making it, it must be pretty good
you cant beat the good old fashioned milton cold water tanks. i bought an avent steam steriliser, i used it at first when i was expressing but cant use it with Ami's feeding equipment now so had no other option. having used them both i would say cold water is the best.
I purchase the tommee tippee starter set and got it cheaper than i could have purchased it from the tommee tippee site on sterilisers.org.uk. After reading the reports on the site i thought it was probably the best buy as it gave me all that i needed. Very happy
