i am really interested in getting a doppler as when i was carrying LO one of those things saved her life. i would love to have the reassurance and bond with bubble and have OH feel as involved as possible and i think that would really make us both happy to hear our little one hiccuping and beating away. does anyone know what is the best kind of doppler but within a good price range? i was spaeking with my best firend and i told her about the pregnancy as she knows we was trying for a few months and about the m/c and she has alot of lovely immaculate baby things such as carseat and so on as all of my LOs stuff is in enagland with my mother. im quite against second hand stuff but things such as carset and bouncers are great you can take the cover off and throw it in the wash with a little colour bleach. so shes bagging a few bits up for me as a baby shower gift (she has 3 kids and hubby got vasectomy now) i will choose what we want to use and clean up so that means i have a little extra cash for a few maternity buts and doppler instead of having to buy a carrier for the tandam (i bought on sale brand new top of line last in stock for £35 when TTC  ) i have also picked up some beautiful mamas and pappas cot sheets curtains and bumper for dirt cheap. but anywayyy im going to stop rambaling.. does anyone know about the dopplers then :rotfl: thanks girls :D x

LOL the one charlotteheys has must be really good as she found baba's HB really early!
I cant remember exactly the name, Angelsounds or something! I think she got it off ebay!
Im sure she will tell you if Im right or totally wrong when she is next on!! :D

Yeah, we need to find out which one Charlotte bought!

Personally, I'd advise against buying this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-ANGEL-SOUNDS- ... dZViewItem I did as I kept hearing Angel sounds being recommended on here and it says it's the new 2008 model but it's just an amplifier rather than a doppler it seems. Good for lugging into the neighbours through the wall OH has discovered  but not sure it's good for much else. Perhaps later on it'll be of use but sounds like the one's that need gel are a better option.

Hmmm - I wasnt sure about getting one before....but that has made up my mind!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Angelsounds is about the cheapest and gives varying results IIRC. Some found it reasonably early, others well past 16 weeks, some even longer.

Hi Bebe's are good but much more expensive. I got one of these and began using it from 15 weeks. I stopped using it once I was able to feel baby move regularly. LO would (and still does) kick out against it then and would move away from the thing (only can't do that now as too big).

Also if you get one be prepared to not be able to find the heartbeat. Many women get into a real panic and fret because they can't track it down until much later on. If this happens, it does not mean there is something wrong, so please don't rely on it too much in that way.

there is a place on ebay you can rent a hi bebe, i found a heart beat about 10 weeks with it but it uses loads of batteries

I'm still on the original set that came with my Hi Bebe doppler. Not needed to change them once

I guess it depends on usage. I kept my listening down to a few times a week for only a minute or two at a time rather than listen lots and for longer periods. I came to the conclusion that they don't enjoy it much as LO kicks out and moves away from it quickly. Other women have commented their LOs' did this also  As to what they think their LO's might have indicated by doing this I cannot comment

mind you i had mine on every day once in the morning and once at night, and because it was fairly early on it did take me some time to find it
i will be using this time also if i get to that stage, its really does put your mind at rest, i found it really helpful due to my history. I think when you are further on and can feel the baby kick you dont need it, maybe just on quiet days.

I dont think it annoys the baby or does the baby any harm if you were to put your hand on your bump the same as the doppler im sure it would kick out at that.

i cant wait to get to that stage

 I could feel my ears burning hehe.. :rotfl:

I found mine at 9weeks 4days, i use Anglesounds.. be sure you buy doppler not amplifier!!

I think i am just extreamly lucky to have found mine so early. i bought it about 7weeks i think, tried it every 3 or 4days, then one lonely friday evening, i took abit more time to listen.. Used LOTS of gel. was dying for a wee, and just moved it so slowly right above pubic bone, but really low down!
and there it was.. lil chu chu chu chu chu hehe..
You'll know when you find it, but until you do, theres all sorts or gorgeous iccle noises to hear :) xxx
