Been to the midwife today (1st app)

And she was nice.

I got out of the taxi outside the dr's and she called me to see if I was still going (I was a few mins late ) but it's nice that she's waiting for me and not the other way round

I went in and we just filled out paper work. I am booked under a consultant now too because I had such a big 1st baby (11lbs 2oz) and vontous(sp?) delivery.

I have a scan date for 5th January (3 weeks away) Can't wait! I'll be 9-10 weeks I reckon.

She has moved my DD to 1st August instead of 2nd or 3rd as I worked it out too...

Had bloods, height and weight done too, everything is fine.

She had me going to do her a wee sample, so I did and took it back and she dipped a stick, not sure what she was checking for but said everythings ok...? Maybe she's a poas addict too lol. Dip Happy!

But anyways feel loads better now ive been and got a scan date...Cannnnn't wait! WooHoo!

I did have a scary moment in the room...it was so funny. Midwife asked me to sign for my bloods so I bent over the table to sign and I felt something touching my bum...i thought the midwife was fondling me then I heard ''MUMMY'S BUM''...It was only my 2 year old daughter in her pushchair prodding my bum! So embarresed!

Yeah she was a bit large lol, on the sma milk tins it said 11lbs = 3 month old baby = so much milk etc...but I thought 3 month old baby My sister was in the delivery room with me aswell as OH, and a member of staff popped their head around and said ''how's things in here?'' my sister replied ''Fine, my sister just gave birth to a toddler'' I'm sure there is another lady on here who had one heavier though?

thanx rusks, I know, it's only 3 weeks away!!! I wasnt expecting one so soon! she hasn't made me wait until the full 12 weeks either...lovely lady hehe!

Stupid council sent me a letter out to come inspect the gas on the same day...hmm gas or scan, gas or scan....hehe! I'll have plenty of gas in a few months so the council can wait muhaha!

Glad your appointment went so well and your midwife was nice chick

They check your urine mainly for 2 things... firstly protein... which can indicate infection or in some cases pre-eclampsia and secondly for glucose, which can indicate gestational diabetes.

Also, if they have the posh sticks with more squares on them they can detect leucocytes (sp?), another sign of infection and ketones, a sign that you've got little energy and perhaps are not eating enough (or if you're me you are eating enough but chucking it back up!!)

I used to be a student midwife btw... I'm not just a know it all lol. Anyway... that's why midwives are obsessed with you piddling on a stick all the time!!

ooooh thanx becc lol, my 1st thought was, was she testing for pregnancy, but she would have said yep ur pregnant...right? i got go for a gtt to test for diabetes my mum had it with all 4 of us, i never had one with aaliyah, they sent me for 1 after
