Bacterial Vaginosis can lead to infertility???!!

I've been reading up on this, and apparently it can cause infertility.So I've gotten myself into a right state now, and I'm panicking really bad that I feel sick.
So since I was about 16/17 (now 23) I've been back and forth to the doctors all these years about problems with my vajayjay, and they've just kept giving me stuff for thrush, or UTIs, and never tested me for this, ever!! Obviously nothing has worked and I only found out about BV using Google a couple months back.
Struggling to sleep now, even though I've only had 2 hours in 24 hours anyway. I can't stop thinking about it, what if it's made me infertile (apparently can cause mcs to). Why the fk didn't i have tests done when I was a teenager?! So realistically I could have had it for 8 years maybe even longer, as I remember burning downstairs alot in my early teens but was too embarrassed to tell my mum lol. I probably being abit dramatic but I really am stressing out so bad about this :/ x

Edit - BV can't cause infertility itself (i don't think) but can cause other problems like PID and others etc (please correct me if I'm wrong) x

I don't really know much about this, but try not to worry about it tonight (its waay to late to make any difference - though I know its not that easy). Google is also not always our friend medically speaking, but you should call your gp tomorrow if possible x

Thanks for replying. I have an appointment with a fertility consultant early July, my gp will tell me to wait to see them. :/ I'm just so pissed of that after all these years, they could have treated it. :/

It might not be anything so try and stay positive and worrying about it now won't change anything (again I know its not that easy, my brain is the worst for over thinking at night).

At least something is being done now and hopefully they will be able to either tell you nothing is wrong you were just really unlucky or fix any issues they do find. You must have had a rough couple of months, 1 MC was hard for me so my heart goes out for you having 3 in a few months. But you're still young so you have that on your side

I've struggled with BV for years or that's what I've been told was going on and they constantly put me on the antibiotics you insert with a tube down there. My big indication that something was off was an ever present odor. I've been using feminine wipes for about two months and no more problems. I've read about BV causing infertility too.. But I got pregnant last year so me having it for years didn't stop me from conceiving. Are you ovulating? I think if you're ovulating you're OK, but see what the specialist has to say. Deep breaths sweetheart.

I just realized I asked a stupid question, of course you're ovulating.. I'm half asleep. Try not to worry yourself too much, stress is no good for the baby making. Keep us posted! Xx

Sally i don't ovulate like i should, mostly every 3 months. I ovulated 2 cycles in a row last 2 cycles which was strange but think that's because I had a chemical pregnancy x

The best thing you can do is see what the doctor's have to say about your fertility... everything else is just freaking yourself out/worrying. I hope you get good news honey!

Sorry lovely have you been confirmed to have BV? If not, you know there's a test for that now that you can buy from boots and superdrug? xx

I haven't been tested for it, but the symptoms are pretty similar. Yeah, ive bought one a couple weeks ago just haven't done it yet wanted to be dry down below but haven't been. Gonna do it as some as Af has gone :/ It's just really pissed me off tbh. I remember when I was a teenager the doc telling me to go sexual health clinic and get tested because I kept going and going about vag problems, so i did and everything came back fine even the thrush test was negative. So I went bk to the doctor and gave me thrush cream again because "it has to be that" :/ After that i kept going still for ages, then finally, they sent me to gyne and she didn't even test me for it :/ she did a internal scan that was it and said there's nothing wrong so years later again still having the same problems and it still hasn't been sorted.

Sorry peanut. I know this comes as a shock and feels like the world is ending. But take 10 deep breaths to calm down. There is nothing that can't be treated. Try not to assume you defo have it cause stress will destroy you. Everything is treatable these days sweetie. Your doc will help you xxx

Lol, I'm ok now, ive calmed down about it since yesterday, last night I thought i was going to have a panic attack lol, when I thought about it I found it hard to breathe. I'm silly ikno.. just kept thinking I can never have babies i had very little sleep, and when your tired everythings blown way outta proportion aha. But im in alot better mood today, actually managed 5 hours last night xD
No I don't (is that fertility lube? Lol) xx

I wrote a reply on here earlier but I can't see it lol - I have had BV a few times and it is horrible, I just wanted to tell you that as I am on my second successful pregnancy and it hasn't affected my fertility at all so there's definitely hope! xxxx

Peanut, yes those fertility lubes. If you dont use them its ok then.

Don't panic. I know its easier said than done. Its treatable condition. Defo speak to the doc about this in July.

I had this years ago once. It cleared quickly with antibiotics and as far as I know I haven't had it since. I wasn't aware it was such a big thing. I found out because I was spotting after dtd so they did a smear test and that's what came back. Every time you have a smear they should test for that.

Sugar, I'm on 23 and ive has about 5 smears. .. and they took the absolute piss to get because I'm under 25 :/ I remember a nurse saying, oh because your not this age well have to get permission of so and so.
I've always have spotting after dtd, had it for years, which is one of the main reasons I kept going back. They just tested for thrush, and stis even though I've only had one partner for over 5 years :/ xx

I remember when I went they just tested it for everything, all infections. If I were you I would change doctors!
