I had my 37 week check up this morning and she asked me what kind of birth I had last time (very long, forceps, back to back baby) and she told me that this baby is currently laying back to back too

M2A - I think you managed to turn your baby yourself didn't you?

What are the recommendations for turning a back to back baby?

I was back to back and have been told to either be on all fours over a ball or lay on my side. My midwife said sitting and especially slouching will cause baby to go round back to back. Next appointment on Friday so we'll find out if she has shifted or not lol

As above really, get on all fours as much as you can. Apparently its brilliant to turn them :)

yeah all fours, apparently scrubing the kitchen floor was always good in the old days. lol

sitting up straight helps too x x

yeah I heard that when you sit you should try and lean forward, not backward - it gives the little one more space to turn. There was a video on youtube about it. They even sugested to put a rolled towel or a cushion behind your back if you spend much time driving - again, to keep you leaning forward.

Bouncing balls are supposed to be good too...

xx

My wrists and knees absolutely kill when I'm on all fours. I'm so bloody heavy they just can't copy with the weight of me. I've been trying to sit on my ball or sit up straight as much as possible.

OzGirlNat you can just lean on something while being on your knees, that might hurt less xx

Had the same problem with my first, and then been told the same things that the other ladies have already recommended with my second - who indeed wasn't back to back! Just wanted to add that regarding lying on your side I was specifically told to lie on my left side rather than my right (although I am not quite sure why that would make any difference). Hope it works for you!

Jack was back to back & we only found out while I was in full blown labour! They scanned the top of his head and he was slighly off angle too, my labour was 42hrs long which like DW ended in a forceps delivery but Jack did manage to turn himself the right way round on his own! :) Hope your little one turns in time hun! x

The left side thing is to do with a better blood supply to the area I think. Yeh DW I think M2A did a lot of bouncing on a birth ball........I would say rolling your hips round in standing or sitting and all fours are good things I've heard to try! Hope LO gets in a good position for you xx

Thanks for all the advice ladies xxx
