 What an eventful 5 days this has been!!!

Waters broke at 7.30 Saturday morning - the day I was due to be induced  So I call the maternity unit to see when they needed me in etc & they said call back in a couple of hours & let us know what progress you've made - so at 9.30 I called to say that my contractions were every 5 mins & really strong & when can I come in - and they announced that they're closed & I will need to go elsewhere

So the midwife said she'd make some calls & get me in somewhere else local preferably Heatherwood in Ascot - but they were closed too aswell as Slough & Basingstoke - the only place open is the John Radcliffe in Oxford :wall:

Paul wasn't happy with that & complained so the midwife arranged for a local midwofe to pop in & see me to distinguish how far along I was & to go from there...

At 11.00 the midwife came, my contractions every 2 1/2 mins apart at this point & unbearable - I was 4cm - the midwife reported back saying that I shall soon be in established labour & I need to be placed somewhere - still the only place being open - John Radcliffe.

She suggested we left immediatly - and it was the worst 45 min car journey I have ever experienced!!

We arrived at JR AT 12.30 & i'm in agony & demanded an epidural straight away and when examined before the epidural I was 7cm :cheer:

So the epidural went in & took effect within 15 mins & I was in heaven!! So from around 1pm to 5pm I laboured in bliss! At 5pm I was fully dilated & had to wait till 6pm to push..

6pm came around & I started pushing - hour & a half later the doctor was called as I wasn't making any progress - I had 3 different doctors examine me & they all agreed that baby was face up & wasn't going to come out naturally - so they said they'd try forceps delivery & if that failed i'd need a C section.

Out came the salad tongues & the lady doc tried to get her out & failed miserably! Then the 2nd doctor came along - performed an episiotomy and went in & pulled her out so hard & fast that I moved down the bed! She was placed on my chest stunned but crying - she was then whisked away & this is where things become a little hazy....

I thought they were just sorting out my placenta when in fact they were trying to stitch me up & they couldn't stop me bleeding (I was practically unconcious at this point) I remember a doctor telling me that i'd need to go to theatre to be 'finished up' & I was trollied away - leaving my poor shocked husband with the baby..

I managed to sign something to say I consented to the proceedure & I was in theatre for an hour - unconcious for most of it - hooked up to a big-ass saline drip - I came round at the end & was wheeled into recovery where all my family were waiting..

This is when I learned what exactly had happened..

They'd cut me one way to allow the dleivery & I tore the other, a third degree tear where I lost 2l of blood

I had 3 drips in me when I came out of theatre - feeling very weak & poorley & had no interest in seeing my little girl who was a healthy 8lb.

I had a blood transfusion throughout saturday night - poor lucy had been badly bruised by the forceps & was not happy - she screamed all night & there was nothing I could do to sooth her :(

Sunday came & I was still very weak & now very sore - the midwife's in recovery tried to get me to walk & pee but nothing worked :( So I was put back on the catheter & told to rest.

I was wheeled up to a private floor where I stayed for 3 more days - resting & taking lots of drugs & enjoying my baby - but was very lonely because I was miles away from friends & family - but I was very well looked after & I took advantage of allowing my body to heal as best it could before going home.

I know understand the reason for my amazing stay in the private suite on the 7th posh floor of the hospital & all the fuss I received was because the forcep delivery & the tear was totally un-necessary & i've been advised to sue!!

Anyway - I came home yesterday & i'm stiched everywhere - i tore through the muscle of the perinium, torn my fanoola & worst of all my sphincter (sp) popped & i've torn down my leg  So as you can imagine i'm very very very uncomfortable!!!!

I now have to see a physiotherapist to ensure that I don't become bladder & fetile uncontinent :(

So ow ow ow ow ow ow ow & add some more ow's to that

Here's some piccies...
