So what actually goes on in these? Do you just sit in a room with other mums and chat?

Pretty much and you let your LO have fun playing, they are great for meeting other mums to.

I'd say it depends on who runs it - there are 2 i go to - one is run by mums and the other by surestart.

The mums one we pay £1.50 for and we sit and chat with a cuppa while all the little uns play.

The one by surestart is free and we sit with a cuppa and chat while little uns play, then they bring food out. Next is activity time where we make a different thing each week (the children that don't want to just play) then we have music and song time. Then we sing a goodbye song.

The tot group I went to with Aaron cost £1 and 50p per extra child. They used to fill the hall with toys and let them play for ages, also had a table with something crafty to do, each week changed from painting to sticking etc. Then they'd pack the craft stuff away and puzzle tables to set it up for the kids to have snacks and a drink (usually raisins and breadsticks). Then they'd bring out big cars out for the kids to go mad on around the hall and then they'd have nursery rhymes and we'd go home.
