Babies heartbeat

Oh i feel so boring banging on about this to my non pregnant friends, but im so excited. I went to the midwife this morning and had a hearbeat listen, it was sooo lovely, loud and clear and she was really pleased she said im carrying high which indicates a girl eeeeeeeeeeeeeee

She also said my tummy is looking right size for my dates and everything is all good. Phew

I then had to go to pathology in hospital for the routine blood tests so hopefully they will be fine.

Anyone else had one of these midwife app's recently, or soon? is it weird that it made me all excited?? x

I had my 2nd m/w app last Tuesday and was left a bit disappointed if I'm honest, all she did was give me my blood test results, check bp and urine, then send me on my way! Was in and out in 10 minutes, if that. Don't have another until the end of April now either, but apparently she will listen to heartbeat then and start to examine 'the bump'. I guess it's still a bit early, but I went in excited and came out deflated!

Oh no thats not very good? Ithought they listened to heartbeats after 16 weeks? thats our policy where we are i think. what a shame for u.

I went to the midwife on my 16th week and got to listen to the heatbeat. was very fast, duno what the numbers were though.
Heard the baby moving around and kicking.
In my hospital they wont listen until after 16 weeks to save disapointment.

Inky sorry you wern't happy with your mw appointment. Did they not even offer to let you listen in??

Thats lovely! I carried really low with Rosie and this time Im carrying totally differently - much higher

No, it wasn't offered and I got the impression she wanted me in and out because she was over 30 minutes late when she saw me and my appointment was at 9am so god knows how she was going to make up the time in the rest of the day. I have my own doppler so can listen whenever I want anyway, but didn't get it until after the app so it's all good now

aww iv got my appt in 2weeks and they are going to listen to babys heartbeat ill be 17wks, they said its usually 16wks but coz my scan was late then they would do it at 17/18wks, then 2weeks later got my 20wk scan. x

It has made me feel much more secure. i didnt expect to enjoy it that much.

I sooo want my doppler to hurry up n arrive now and my 20 week scan even more so! x

I was really excited for my 16 week check up (was on Fri 26th Feb). Made my OH come along just so he could hear heart beat as well!
She put me on the bed and had a nosey about. She only found it about 2-3 times and it only lasted a few seconds but the look on my OH's face was a picture! He was grinning like a cheshire cat! Hehe! The doppler she had was really old and she said she couldn't pick up many 16 weekers. Main thing is there's still a heart beat!
Cant wait for my 20 week scan now!! 4 weeks today! :-D

I have my next m/w appointment next monday and a growth scan on the 23rd x

I was on my own when i heard the HB, i didnt have a proper appointment, it was to talk about my history for the medical records.
OH was gutted when he found out, i couldnt even tell him straight away (he was at his mums, had to stay away from me for 3 days due to virus) as he had no battery on his phone!
Next scan is thursday so he will be with me for that
