Well we went to the Dr this morning to have Hebe's chest checked again. She seems to have a permanent cough :( Sounds like my mother used to when she smoked 30 a day!!

Anyhoo....they have said for the 3rd or 4th time the think she's got asthma :( We dont have it in our family so I think when they said it before I was in denial. He said the fact she has eczema too would kind of tie up with it.

any other mum's with LO's with asthma or eczema? She's on the salbutomol (blue) inhaler and we use epaderm cream. her little hands get so sore - she sort of bites them when they itch

Poor little Hebe, Rosie had eczema when she was tiny but it seems to have cleared up as she has grown. Steve has both asthma and eczema so I did think it might continue. Sorry I dont have anything to advise - just wishing Hebe comfort with her hands  and that she grows out of it.

My niece was taken to hospital last weekend with an allergic reaction to Epaderm, my sister had put some on her eczema on her head and chin and then when she woke up crying at 3am her head and face had swollen up - she had made a claw fist of her hand and was trying to scratch the top of her head poor thing; she is 6 months old.

Oh no poor Hebe :(

Am I making things up or do they say asthma in babies/infants can go away as they get older?

x

Oh RM your poor niece! :(

Wobbs - I think they can grow out of it so fingers crossed. I know my sister grew out of eczema over time and Emily's best friend's asthma seems to be going too.

Aww your poor niece :(

Mervsmum - I hope she does then poor love. The skin sounds so sore :( x

her hands are dreadful the poor little sausage :(

Poor Hebe  Hope the inhailer helps with her cough.

I had asthma when I was little and grew out of it. I also have eczema.

Do you think I should be avoiding certain foods for the eczema? I think I read that dairy can irritate it....

I wouldnt avoid any food groups yet, not unless the doc suggests it - keeping the skin moisturised is the key, that way it tends not to flare up. Really hope Hebe gets better v soon!

both my two have asthma.. its a nightmare sometimes. they each have 2 inhalers - a blue one and a brown one. the brown one they take every day and the blue one is just for when theyre coughing badly

Bless 'em. The dr said she only needs the blue for now to ease it if she starts coughing. He explained that the brown one is preventative so they only give that if they really need to prevent an attack.

Is it in their family history Terrie? x

yeah me and my brother have got asthma, OH and his brother both have asthma too

3 (Gemma, Cara & Joe) out of my 5 have asthma :( and Joe has chronic lung disease as well

2 of them, the girls; have eczema

Cara when she was a baby also had egg and peanut and dust and animal allergies!!

Oh and Katie has peanut allergy :wall:

It's fun in our house...NOT

Cara took the asthma when she about 6 months I noticed and it died down dramatically when she was 3/4 but started back up again and has settled since she's got the flu jab for the past 3 years :) She had terrible eczema :( I had to bandage her full arms and full legs until she was 3 :(

Gemma only took Asthma 3/4 years ago and the same with the eczema and seems to get worse prior to exams :(

Again Joe, born 12 weeks early as you know faced bigger probs but he's doing well now as well In fact he's hardly ever sick :D I credit alot of to the flu jab tbh, before that we had alot of hospital admissions

Oh and family history my brother took Asthma when he was 4 and I took Asthma when I was 21!

Poor Cara with the bandages and all :(

It's interesting isnt it.....goes to show you too that they just get what they get to a degree not matter what you do. I said to the Dr today, she eats well, plenty of fruit and veg, lots of good home cooked food right from the off, I give her vitamins and she was breastfed till she was one but they get what they get dont they. Meh.

Course they do hun :( It's frustrating :wall2:

Out of interest though, did Hebe show any signs of Asthma when BF?

Well......she got her inhaler for broncialitis (sp?) on 20th October (Keith looked over the Dr's shoulder to check that today! ) and she turned 1 on the 15th. She'd all but stopped about a month before her first birthday but I kept offering it because I wanted to make that milestone for myself really... I fed her on the morning of her birthday and never offered it again because she'd stopped 'asking' and I knew she didnt 'need' it. She's a better milk drinker now than she ever was after I started her on solids..... Who bloommi' knows....

Have you tried goats milk? Not as mad as it seems, seems to be very good :D
