Hi,

I have read posts previously bout buba's with flat heads, and told how my lil Rebecca looks like half her head has been chopped off at the side. Just wonder if anyone has got their LO a helmet yet or are in the process of doing so?

We were in Asda tonight, and a lil boy had one on...went up to the woman and said " I hope you don't think I am rude but is the helmet for FHS?"

Well she told me that it was, and she paid £1850 for it, and has to travel to Leeds!! It is sooo much money, and all the travelling expense for us too i can't afford it. Have thought about getting extra on the mortgage, but we are struggling just now financialy with nursery fee's etc without any extra being added onto the mortgage.

Sorry it's so long, but I remember a few of you had buba's who were suffering from it, and would appreciate any updates on your situation or advice you can share with me.

I know it is a cosmetic problem, but I was bullied at school, and will try everything in my power so Rebecca won't get bullied especially for a flat head

I am waiting to see a paediatrician about Ella's head/neck. We're hoping that we might be able to stop her head from getting worse if we sort out her tight neck muscle. Roll on the 22nd June!!

I went to see these people in Cardiff www.plagiocephalyuk.co.uk and they were REALLY helpful. They won't tell you that you need a helmet if you don't, were very honest and even showed us some stretches that we can try with Ella's neck until we get help through the NHS (which is appallingly slow!).

It is really worrying me now, as people have been commenting on Rebecca's flat head, and it makes me get quite upset. I feel so bad for her. Hope all goes well for you Rosieroo, keep me posted on ella's progress.

The NHS annoys me-you get methadone, breast enlargements/reductions, rhinoplasty on the NHS..list is endless, but you can't get these helmets, or any help with this condition, it is ridiculous.

I'm more worried anout Ella's face becoming deformed - her cheek bulges forward on her flat side.

How is Rebecca's facial symmetry?

This is hard to describe but one side of her forehead sticks out further than the other, and it's the flat side. It's terrible aint it? Don't you just feel for them? But we still love them no matter what, and they are still gorgeous!!

My DH found it very hard to look at Ella in a critical way and say 'actually, yes, her face does look swollen on that side', it was like admitting she wasn't perfect. I must just be a terrible mummy ;) If she has been lying on the flat side then her face will look really bad, but if we've managed to keep her off of it then it's not very noticeable.
