Anyone starting to TTC may/June?

Hi,

Me and my OH are WTT for our holiday at the end of May, it seems so far away!!

Just wondered if there is anyone else out there on similar timings?

Currently concentrating on losing weight (hopefully 2stone, I'm on slimming world) and saving money so I'm ready when the time comes.

Also does anyone have thoughts on TTC before getting married? Ideally we would be married first, but we've both decided we're ready and don't want to wait too much longer (I'm 33), but I worry that once kids are around getting married will be pushed to the back of the to do list. Does it really matter to children if their parents are married?

Well I am in a similar situation, but I am WTT until Aug/Sep (so a couple of months behind you). And yes I agree, to me it feels like a lifetime away!!
The OH and I have not been together that long (a little over a year) but both feel ready and that the time is right for us to start trying this year without being married. I feel the same and would love to have been married first before having a baby but as I am getting older (I am 32 this year and OH is 31) we feel that marriage can wait and that it would be nice to have them there celebrating our wedding with us in a few years time.

Its what feels right for you, I say go for it this year as you don't know how long it will take to fall pregnant. My sister was NTNP for well over a year and she is in her late 20's (not that has a lot to do with it but it was her second one too)

I also forgot to mention I need to lose at least 2 stone, possibly 3 and save money for when Im on mat leave too!!
 
Hiya,

Our situations are so similar! I've been with my OH just 13 months, but when you know, you know!

I'm actually glad that I have time first to get in shape and sort out finances, but just can't wait. I have a countdown app on my phone and everything lol.

So far I've lost 5lb on slimming world, but still got a long way to go, my BmI is 30 (eek) want to get it down to mid 20's.

Got a £2k credit card to pay off too now before I start saving. Only get the bare minimum SMP from work unfortunately and really would like to take a year off, so lots of saving to do.

Would love to keep in touch and hear about your progress!

Hi girls I thought I would add my comments to this thread as I too and WTC, need to loose 3 stone and sort out my finances, what are the chances! xxxx
 
Hi Leanne and welcome.

Do you know when your going to start trying yet? Good luck with the weight loss, have you managed to lose any so far? I'm finding it a little easier than losing weight in the past because I now have the motivation :) we are starting to try in 17 weeks, so I'd like to lose 2lb a week, which would take me down to a healthy bmi of 24. Fingers crossed!

Are either of you in tune with when you ovulate and all that kind of stuff? I came off the pill a year ago so my cycles are all regular now, I have the period diary ap which tells me around about when I'm ovulating and I can feel it happening each month around that time, like a period pain / stitch feeling on one side. I'm hoping this is a good sign that everything is working properly!

Yes J it seems our situations are very similar! And I am glad also that I have the time to get things in order, I have my credit card and a couple of other small things to pay off, then we can get saving for mat leave (which is the statutory also), plus I need to shift this weight!! Its frustrating as I put on 2 stone last year, since meeting the love of my life, haha, so its all his fault.

Well done on your weight loss so far, thats excellent! I haven't lost that and Ive been trying since the new year :(

Hi Leanne - we all have so much in common, when are you going to start TTC?

Yes we should definitely all keep in touch and motivate one another to get our finances and weight in order for when we are all TTC :) xxx
 
Hi ladies, just thought of an idea to help motivate us. As it's the 1st of the month maybe at the beginning of every month we could do a roll call for the previous months progress such as:

WTT_june 2014;
Weeks left to start TTC: 16
Pounds lost: 5.5
BMI score reduced by: 0
Debts paid/money saved:£100

Hopefully every month we'll see week numbers going down and lbs lost and money saved going up.

Anyone like the idea? Would like to add anything?

Money saved : £600 (but this to go towards my holidays this year before TTC)

I tried a detox yesterday and lost 2kg! I know its mainly water but I was really pleased with those results. Doing it again today too :)

Welldone on the detox, that's amazing results!!!

Can't stop thinking about how great it will be to get a BFP and then when we'll be able to tell the family, think some people will be quite surprised!! Fingers crossed it don't take too long to fall on!
 
Hi everyone, I've just joined. I have two children and we have pretty much decided we'd like to try for no. 3 around May/June time. Eek!

I also need to lose around two stone if I dan. Serious dieting starts tomorrow and I already go to spin and Pilates classes 4 times week but I'm still big.

Tranquility, feel free to join our group of "patiently" waiting to TTC with a goal of money saving and weight loss whilst we wait.
I have tried to lose weight in the past and to be honest I do a fair amount of exercise, but I found that its all down to what I eat. If I eat badly and exercise loads the weight still doesnt budge but if I dont exercise and eat healthy the weight does come off, so Im really try to do both, so hopefully the weight will come off a bit quicker and my body/core will be ready for pregnancy :) spinning and pilates is excellent, you should definitely keep this up!

Thanks J, I couldnt believe it, although I had dinner last night (as we visited the in-laws) and I put on 0.9kg, grrrr!!! Im back on the detox today though, so fingers crossed, I just need a kick start.
I know, I get so excited thinking about telling OH that Im actually pregnant!! He would be over the moon as I know he would love a little one. We are both so in love (cringy, I know, but Ive never felt this before) and it would just mean so much to have a little baby that has part of both of us, I feel so lucky to be so happy.
I also get really excited thinking about getting a bump and being pregnant and then the birth and everything, and then having the little bundle of joy afterwards, I love watching the catch up episodes of one born every minute, it makes me really excited!! haha and even the other day I started googling things like prams etc, to see how much they are, I'm worried that makes me a real weirdo! haha xx

Welcome tranquility! How has your first day of dieting gone today?

I was supposed to be going to the gym tonight, but it's the first day of my period and couldn't face it!! Not a great start to the week :( I've stuck to the diet today though to make up for it. If I manage to lose 2lb this week, I'll be down into the next stone bracket, fingers crossed!

Vixx you and your OH sound so sweet and in love, I'm very lucky to be in the same situation, me and my OH are so soppy and lovey dovey it's sickening haha.

I can't wait to have a baby bump either! I know it sounds selfish but I want to loose weight of course for a healthy pregnancy but also because I want to look pregnant and not just fat!! I think if I got pregnant now I'd just end up the size of a house!!

You're not a weirdo at all for googling prams and watching one born every min, it's important to do your research!! We're purposely not looking into the expense of everything cos we'd end up talking ourselves out of it because of the expense, but people that are far worse off than us do it and manage, so we're just gunna go for it.

I was thinking I'd like to have a water birth and was wondering if your OH is allowed in the pool too! I saw an episode on one born every min and a girl had a pool birth and made it look so easy!

Dont worry we all have off days like that, and as long as you eat healthily the gym wont matter much to be honest. I've stuck to my detox and weighed myself this morning and lost 1.1kg since yesterday haha woohoo - Im going to keep it going until Saturday hopefully, and then it will have been a week and then I can see how much I've lost in total.

Haha I love that you are the same as us, thats great, at least you understand what its like, my previous relationship of 10 years was nothing like this, so I am loving every single minute of this one!!

With regards to money, I wouldnt worry about that, you are never in the perfect situation or have enough money (well unless youre rich) somehow people cope, they always do. If it came to it, people can cut back on any luxuries they have and food shopping by shopping at cheaper places and non branded food, my sister shops in aldi all the time and spends about £40 a week on shopping for her, her hubby, and their 2 children, we spend well over £100 a week for just 3 of us, so I know there are ways to cut back if you seriously needed to - try not to worry the expense :)

Yes! I'd love a water birth also, my sister had one the first time around and said labour wasnt too bad then had her boy about 4 weeks ago, normal delivery, and said it was bloody painful! haha so it definitely does help. I think they can get in with you, Im sure they said that on OBEM also, and the guy said no? Im sure they can, but its worth finding out!

I hope youre feeling better today and the dreaded period has eased off a little. I think Im going to come off my pill just to see what my cycles are like, as my pill is very strong and I currently don't get any, apart from a tiny tiny amount (so small I dont really need to use anything) when Im on my weeks break, so would be nice to see what my body is like naturally as when I was a teen they were all over the place. Are you on the pill? xx

Yeah I know we'll be fine financially and there's so much stuff which we can cut back on, which at the minute we aren't, cos we don't need to. Every time I go to Tesco just for a pint of milk I end up spending £50!!

Sounds like water births are the way forward! My sister and mum in law are both midwives so I'm hoping they'll be able to pull some strings to get a pool birth, ideally would actually like to do it at home!

I've been off the pill for 2yrs, I went back on for 1 month last year when we went on holiday, but it took me about 5 months before my cycle was back to normal and I really regretted it, as my cycle was like clockwork before. I'm back to normal now though. We're starting to TTC on holiday, we're going on holiday 31st May -15th June and I'm ov'ing around 6th june, can't wait, but trying not to be too naive thinking it will stick 1st time!!
 
Haha Im the same with spending, I think its a female thing, but I can be good when I try really hard! This month (Feb) Ive decided not to buy myself any shoes, bag or clothes! Loads of us are doing it at work, just as a bit of a challenge. Jans challenge for me was to have no takeaways or alcohol, which I managed to do also :) so I can be good, when I really put my mind to it. I thought that setting these might take my mind off WTT? Seeing as I've still got ages to go.

We are going on holiday too, April and then June, so when Im back mid June, I will only have about 3 months to go, god that sounds so far away still.
What a cute idea waiting until when you are on holiday, I really really hope you fall then :) how do you know when youre ovulating? I have no clue about any of that but I guess thats because Im still on the pill? I was meant to start my pill again 4 days ago, eeek it feels so weird not taking it. What contraception do you use?

A home birth scares me, only because knowing my luck it will all go wrong. Youre lucky to have a mum and sister who can help you :) xx

Hi Vixx, that's a good idea having a challenge every month! Hmm what could mine be this month??? Maybe going to the gym 4 times a week, every week!!

I have the period diary app and you put in when you start your period and it works it all out for you on a calendar for the year. I always come on more or less around when it says I will. As you update it each month with your actual period start date, it adjusts everything. I've been tracking periods on it for about a year now and I know it's quite accurate the ovulation day it gives cos around that time (usually within 1 day either way) I can feel it, it's a bit like a period pain / stitch feeling but only on 1 side and higher up, it changes side from month to month too. I'm hoping this is a good sign it's all in working order.

We would have started to TTC sooner, but we are both scuba divers, so if I had become pregnant before the holiday I wouldn't be able to dive, so it would have been a waste. So we're going to start in holiday, as I don't think the scuba diving will affect anything at such an early stage (fingers crossed)
 
Haha yes it can be anything you want, just something to focus on for the month, it kind of takes your mind off this!!

Ah ok, I will try also. I think things may be happening down below, kinda feels crampy and I know that after your small pill bleed, you then have your proper period a while after if you dont take you pill, so this should be something to look forward to. Yes it definitely sounds like everything is working as it should be, how weird having all these weird feelings/symptoms that women on the pill seem to miss out on!

That totally makes sense, and its definitely worth waiting that bit longer so that you can enjoy your holiday and no scuba diving wont have any affect if you are trying out there, so you will be fine. Just enjoy your holiday and baby making! haha xx
 
Slimming World weigh in for me tonight!! Not holding out much hope for a loss this week, as I went to pizza express last night (did have a salad though)! I've realised I have too much of a social life for this dieting lark. I'm out for lunch on sat and then have a work conference / ball on Tuesday which will be a massive meal, so prob won't lose next week either grrrr :(
 
Good luck for tonight J!! Im sure you will have done ok, especially if you only had a salad, its very difficult to be good when socialising isnt it, thats why I try and avoid them now when I can, or just go for a drink, as Im really bad at making healthy choices, especially in a restaurant!

I gave up on my detox, as it was so bloody hard to stick to, but I am about 2kg down from Sat which isnt too bad? Thats about 4/5 lb? I just have no patience, thats my problem!! I want things done now, or yesterday, haha!! xxx
