I just reviewed this Doppler, outstanding :
If anyone is in the Manchester area and want some reassurance, just let me know, I'm not a trained sonographer, but can find the fetal heart beat pretty easily. If u need some reassurance, let me know, we can arrange this :)

I read somewhere that they can be inaccurate and give false reassurance as you may pick up a heartbeat from the placenta blood flow or your own heart beat.

    I read that too.

But you can tell the difference on them..

Track your own heart beat first, Placenta is a whooshing kind of noise & goes in tune with your heart beat.

Babys heart beat is much faster than your own & placenta.

Yeah, u can see difference, do your own heart, see the BPM (maybe 80ish) when you find baby, it's twice as fast. Very easy to tell, especially with digital screen, you can see the different speeds of the two pulses,

Ooh! I was looking into getting one until I read about that because I didn't want to give myself false hope but I might now. Thanks for clarifying!
