I hope someone can help me, because i'm having a massive panic here. Sorry if what follows is tmi, I've just done a number 2, which was fine, didn't hurt or anything and when i've wiped theres loads of fresh red blood. I've checked and re-checked and its not from period end, so i know probably nothing to do with the baby. But seeing all this blood has scared me and theres loads in the loo too not just when i wipe. Does anyone know what it is and if it's normal, it's never happened to me before x

 Hi hon  I'm NO expert but (and rhetorical question here) the only thing I can think of is if you have piles (isn't that a nice name? I prefer "bum varicose veins but...) then that could be a cause?

I'm sure someone will have an answer for you soon  Hope you're ok - try not to panic too much (easier said than done!) as if you're feeling ok in yourself, hopefully it's just something minor

I would get checked by a doctor just to be on the safe side if your worried about the amount of blood. The doctor might ask for a sample to test. It sounds like you have been straining and that could caused it. It does sound minor to me though.

I get botty bleeding sometimes. Pregnancy can cause constipation and your poo might have been a bit hard and grazed you inside. Also the possibility of piles is high. Has it stopped bleeding now? Keep an eye on it and if your worried, contact NHS direct or your GP xx

Thanks ladies for the replys, the bleeding has stopped and i feel ok, i'll just keep an eye on it. I must have subconsciously stopped checking for blood now without realising, because the sight of loads of blood on the toilet roll gave me a hell of a scare. Ah well, much calmer now, night night x

Yes I am afraid it does sound like the dreaded farmers. Fresh blood from your bum isnt anything to worry about usually unless there's a lot. I have had them internally since I last gave birth. It was scary the first time I saw blood because I didnt have a sore bum so I was panicked. If you go to the Drs they can examine you (not pleasant) and confirm that's what it is. Dont push when you go for a poo. Drink lots of water and eat fibre so you dont get constipated and aggravate them. :)

I think it's best to discuss this with your Doctor, don't be embarrassed - they have heard it all before and worse! I don't think it's anything to worry about with it being fresh blood, they say that you should be worried more if it's old, dark blood. But I'd say that it'd be best to get some advice from your Doctor so you don't panic. I agree with the others that it's probably piles. Drink plenty of orange juice and eat wholemeal bread to prevent straining.

Hope you're not panicing too much now!
