Anaemia & Blood Infusion

Hey people,
Some of you may know already that my Iron Levels (& a b12 deficiency) have been really low throughout pregnancy (and midwives only decided to do something before chrimbo)..

I've been taking Ferous Fumerate (iron tablets) 3 times daily since then to boost it.
It's been a slow process, staying at 8.5 til Mid January & kreeping to an unimpressive 9!! 2 weeks ago!

Tomorrow i have blood tests to see if it's risen,
If not they have suggested being admitted to hospital for an infusion.


Just wondered if anyone has had this or know someone who has (how they felt or how the process went, if it worked etc), any information on it really?

Hi my friend just had a transfusion before she had her little boy yesterday. She had the transfusion friday. She had a level of 8.3 and they couldn't get it up with tabs etc. She said the tranfusion was fine the birth was a little traumatic but that was just bad luck I think. She had another transfusion after the c-section and was fine with that too. xx
