Owen had a reaction today at lunch time :( he's shown his skin is sensitve to pineapple and tomatoes before, we have to make sure his skin as covered as much as poss when eating these.

Today he had scrambled egg, spinach and bread and butter for lunch. Straight way he had some red 'nettlesting' type things round his mouth. He was itching but it wasn't to bad. He ate it all. Then after I had wiped him down with a flannel it went to neck and top of chest and behind ears, all little stingy bite looking things, hundreds of them covering the whole rash area. I think I made it worse when wiping him up. It spread so fast it was scary and he was mega scratching at it. After 20 mins on phone to nhs direct and given him puritan (we had prescribed from the eczema days) it was a little better, breathing was fine the whole time.

Think it must have been the spinach-he had hald a boiled agg yesterday which was fine. Spinach was grown from the garden and I thoroughly washed it, he's had shop spinach before and been fine. So all a bit weird. Think must have been spinach, he had v bad diarhea (sp) after lunch - straight away went 3 times in an hour and seemed to have tummy ache with it and it hurt for him to pass it. All fine now after a grumpy afternoon, he is snoring.

Phew what an essay, think I just wanted to share cos it was so scary!
And Ii feel a bit bad about giving him the spinach :(
xx

U can't know what they r allergic to unless u try it hun.
It sound like it was very scary but I think babies can be very sensitive n then grow out of it.

A boy at baby group is really sensitive n have been rushed in ambulance a few times due to diary allergy, he's also allergic to weat n had had a Tiny little bit bread the other day, today his body was red raw in big patches n it was so itchy for him , he's only 6 month bless.him.

I hope Owen gets better n that he have a good nights sleep x

yeah thanks hon. You're right you don't know unless you try. Poor little lad you mentioned, must be tough for them. They grow out of a lot. We were going to try peanut butter next week as I 've read a lot about not needing to wait til a year. Don't think I fancy it now though! x

Awww hun I know how you feel as ella had a severe allergic reaction to baby bubble bath and her whole body was a red blotch! Could it have been the eggs? Don't feel bad, its not your fault. Hope he's ok x

Not your fault Hun, hope he's better now must of been so scary i know what it was like before Tegan was diagnosed with her Lactose intolerance x

if you want to try peanut butter have you thought about eating it then kissing him or just putting a tiny bit on his skin to see if there is a reaction not sure it'll give you a full picture od whether he will react but it'll eliminate a huge reaction x

Aw bless his heart. Hope he's all better now, must be horrible watching your baby have allergic reaction. I've had loads in the past and they are frickin awful aren't they?!

xxxx

thanks everyone. Just felt so bad cos it was something I had given him. His skin is still kinda bumpy on his neck bu tnot itching since yesterday, will go to gps and request allergy testing I htink.

He's been fine today although up at least every hour, maybe it was tummy ache. Hope tonight is a bit better and it's husband's turn!

Next thread is going ot be a nightmare naps and controlled crying one I feel it coming! It's so hard atm!
xx

Glad the rash isn't as bad Hun and hope you have a better night tonight xx

Hope LO is now feeling better hun. Defo get the allergy test done. My doctors refused to do mine for the medication I thought it was, convinced me it wasn't that and then when I was 7 months pregnant put me back on it and I was back in hospital again! W**kers lol

Don't feel guilty because you can't know when a reaction is going to occur. I do worry about Oscar getting reactions coz when I was a baby was pretty sensitive, but OH has never been and so far oscar is taking after his dad. But I don't let it hold me back from trying him on things, gotta find out lol

xxxxxxx

Thanks :)
slept without a wake last night, typical seeing as it was OHs turn!
He's still a bit sore round his neck and I think he got some food on it at breakfast and then couldn't stop scratching again.

Will keep away from the spinach for a while I think!

xxx

Oh blimey, glad he is all ok now though.

I would double check the eggs tho, even tho he had one the day before, check that it's not better when hard boiled , as my daughter is more sensitive to things, can't eat prawns, (make her sick), but when she was little she had scrambeld eggs about 6 months old, and then her skin went mad, so we were told to leave out eggs till she was over 12 months. We tried at 18 months, same reaction, but far less, then again at about 2.5 years and she was fine, loves eggs now, so hope he grows out of it, if spinich or eggs.

Devon gets blotchy red cheeks for about 1 hour after eating strawberry yoghurt , where it has smeared on his cheeks), so we found the new petit filot natural yogs and add our own fruit now
