Im wondering if any of you girls can help me with my back problem!

the past couple of months, my back has been aching almost everyday.... so much so, i just want to cry!

i work in an office, mornings im fine, but come dinner time, my back starts playing up, i sit with a hot water bottle and a strait back, and ive even taken paracetomol, but it still dosnt help!

i then go home and end up having to lay on the couch after half hour as sitting on there drives me mad!

and yesterday a 20 minute car drive almost drove me to tears!!!!

Do you have any other suggestions you may have to help????

Sorry to hear you are having a painful time of it/

I have had similar problems. My midwife recommended a bump support and it has really helped. It hasnt taken the problem away completely but it has certainly eased the pain. Might be worth a try.

What part of your back is hurting?

Ive had siactica before and ive had it on and off throughout this pregnancy and i find the only think that helps is a nice bath.

It sounds like your doing everything you can to help have you mentioned it to your midwife as it sounds like your in a lot of pain.

  definately tell your midwife, she might be able to refer you for physio

its the part of my back, roughly where the bra strap fastens..... inbetween shoulder blades and down a bit!

i mentioned it to midwife at last visit and all did was note it on my book... and suggested swimming....
ive another appointment on 23rd, ill deff tell her again.......

the bouncing ball helps me for upper back pain

massage helps

warm baths

heat packs

painkillers

for lower back pain, sciatica i have been to a chiropracter and this helped enormously, taking it easy avoiding long car journeys

over all the best thing for me is my fitness ball

hope it eases pet

oh yes and see the physio too, they will give you a belt and show you how to get in and out of bed the right way

I was going to recommend gym ball but Ginnymarie beat me to it!!

Its loads comfier than sitting on sofa as it encourages good posture. Oh and if your sat at a desk all day have your employers done a risk assessment since you've been pregnant? They should check your chair and desk and computer are all at correct height for you to sit properly- and they'll probably recommend lots of break too :D

Definitely mention to midwife again - or check if you can self-refer to maternity physio.

I also use a ball for my bad back, its great as it makes you sit in a natural position for your back.

Can work provide a special chair for back pain?

hi girls, well thanx for your advice.
Ive got a gym ball, so ill try dabblin on that for a while! and yeh ill deffo mention it to midwife.....

as for work, yeh they did a risk assesment, and they have requested a 'pregnancy chair' aparently its a big comfy chair!

well.............. lets just say that was requested just about 20 weeks gone, and now im 29 weeks and only at work another 8 weeks!!!

typical of my work...... theyll get it when ive left!

THANK YOUUUUuuuuuu

i have sciatica (or so they say) and other horrible aches and pains due 2 having my 3rd baby so close 2 my 2nd. my little girl is 1 on the 20th april!
the midwife told me to see my gp to see what she could do for me, she gave me cocodamol which works a treat once ive taken it but after abt 2 hours im in agony again. :wall:
i cant sleep at night and i get up in excruciating pain (it takes me about 5 mins to muster up the strength to roll over so i can get up it hurts when i move) nothing seems to work.
sorry ive not been of any help but i think i may try an exercise ball next.
hope u find something that works 4 u.

i have bad back and hip pain n im on cocodamol but i think il try a gymball since cocodamol doesnt do that much and makes me a bit constipated. the gym ball makes sense coz it changes your posture when sitting just didnt think of it!
cheers girlies!! :D :D :D :D

i have bad back and sciotica biwth both pregnancies. the only thing that works on me is to not walk too much and not hoover so much... my wee boy is off school at the min and my bakc is far better cause i havnt been walking him to school.. i worked full time last pregnancy and sittin all day on a chair really hurt..

Sounds like your work asr as good as mine when it comes to needing equipment. Would it be possible for you to buy another ball and sit on that at work at your desk?

My ball was only £4 from Tesco.

i get back ache all of the time  but i do find the gym ball helps :D

hi, thanx for all your advice girlies,

its eased off a bit when ive been sitting on the gym ball while watching tv etc, but got it bad yesterday when i was coming back from a shopping trip... couldnt wait to get home and get OH to give me a back rub!!!

taking a smal rectangle shape cushion into work today to see if that supports back at all!
