Hope im posting in the right place

I have a question for all you mums and to-be mums out there....is it 'normal' to have crampy/stitchy type pain on one side?
Ive had it since Wednesday but its got alot worse this morning, it woke me up at 5  What should I do?

Hi,

How far along are you?

It could be just general stretching pains as you can get some quite strong pains when everything is settling in but if its woken you from your sleep I would ring your MW/GP and get them to check you over just to be on the safe side, I dont want to alarm you and i'm sure its nothing but pain in one side can be a sign of an ectopic pregnancy.

Let u know how u get on x

I dont know how far gone I am  I only found out 2 weeks ago today that I was even pregnant!
I dont have a midwife :? Should I just phone my doctors surgery?
What would an ectopic pregnancy mean?

Yeh if it were me personally I would see my GP who will probably refer you for a scan to make sure everything is as it should be. As I said its likely to be nothing, different people experience different levels of pain at the beginning... some none and some quite alot but I defintely think its worth getting it checked out.

Ive got an appointment for 11.50....im worried that its signs of a miscarriage
I'll update as soon as I get home

I've been trying to get online the last half hour to update but its been bringing up error messages :? Not sure if it was just me getting them

Anyhow saw the doctor at my GP surgery this morning who didnt say alot but advised me to go to the Early pregnancy unit at the hospital which I did! When I got there the midwife did lots of checks and asked me questions about how ive been feeling etc and as suspected advised I should have a scan to check everything is hunky dory and thankfully everything is absolutely fine :D

Got the biggest shock of my life tho when the sonographer said im 14 weeks  I only thought I would be around 6-8 weeks! How have I been pregnant for that long and not even realised?!?

Oh and the midwife said the pain ive been getting is probably nothing to worry about and is more than likely just ligaments stretching to accomodate the baby....god it seems weird saying that!

 vglad your ok hun, what a shock being that far gone, Im sure it was lovely to see your LO though and you have skiped the crappy sickness stage

wow congrats!
i had severe one sided pains until about 30 weeks in to my pregnancy. a couple of times landing me in hospital cos i thought theres no way a healthy pregnancy should feel this way.
it never came as anything and again said stretching pains. I now have a healthy 7 week old :D

You've skipped the entire 1st tri! thats fantastic!! :cheer: :cheer:

Congrats :)

Those type of pains are very common, especially at around 14 weeks like you are now.

I had them both times. They could sometimes be that bad they took my breath away and other times it was just like a dull ache that was there but I was told they were just my ligaments and both my boys are fine :)

Thanks for that! Did your pains stop after 14 weeks?

had very similar pains for about the first 16 weeks - I remember ending up on the floor in a ball at one point. I was in agony but it was just ligaments like you say! Congrats!

Thanks for your help this morning its much appreciated!
Can you take two or is it better to just take the one?

Mine didn't stop until around 18/20 weeks.

You can have whatever it says on the packet of the paracetomol. If my pains were really bad or I had a bad headache I would sometimes take two but did try and just take the one which normally got rid of any pains anyway :)

You'd be fine with 2, paracetamol is perfectly fine to take during preg so if they dont ease then your fine taking 2 in future. Glad I could help this morning & hope I didnt panick you! x
