So I had my follow-up appointment at the hospital today. The good news is that the doctor prescribed me provera to induce a period and then 3 months worth of clomid. So we can actually start ttc properly after a year of no periods and therefore no ovulation.

The bad news is that I need to go in for "follicle tracking scans" to check if the clomid is working and the hospital charges £450 a cycle for this as you have to pay for it privately. It makes me so angry that the nhs doesn't support women going through a really tough time but instead makes them contend with this postcode lottery. My husband and I are incredibly lucky that we both work and earn decent money so we can find a way to pay for it but there must be so many women out there who go through all this stress only to find out they can't afford what they shouldn't even need if their bodies worked naturally.

So my advice is - if you get referred on by your gp, and you can choose which hospital you go to, do some research first on what they do / don't fund. I just picked a hospital that was fairly easy for me to get to, but it sounds like at others I might not have had to pay for treatment.

Anyway - nhs rant over! At least my ttc journey can start properly

:dust: to all

That's terrible that you have to pay :( I think that's really unfair.
But fab that you have clomid and can ttc properly now, hopefully with a bfp very very soon :) x

Rubbish that you have to pay...but yay for all the rest of it. I really hope you get your bfp very soon!xx

That's terrible! Especially as you've gone in as an nhs patient, to then suggest a course of action but tell you to cough up is so mean! Imagine if they did that with heart surgery?! Got you on the operating table, opened you up and then said 'you'll have to pay for the surgeon I'm afraid...' So cruel. Thank goodness you can afford to cover the costs, but that still doesn't make it fair. So sorry hun. X
