Hi girls

Can I use a hot water bottle on my back and tummy? Im in agony and need something to help ease the pain ( it isnt labour ) I know that applying hot to your body isnt generally recommended ie. no hot baths and it can distress baby and you are told not to use a hottie in Tri 1 I need something though :(

This site recommends using hot water bottles

Try heat, cold or a back rub. Apply heat to your back. Soak in a warm bathtub, or use a hot water bottle or a heating pad. Some women find relief by alternating ice packs with heat. Rubbing your back also may help. Better yet, ask someone to rub your back for you.

 Hope you feel better

If you have a tens machine you can use that on your back. Otherwise a hot water bottle on your back should be fine.
I've had some nasty constant pains over the last few days, I think it's probably the cervix effacing. Hope you get some relief soon

hey tilly

i have used a hot water bottle and stuck heat packs on my back but
i must admit, they made me sweaty and hot and baby didn't seem to like it

the best thing is those packs filled with wheat, rice that you heat in microwave, they don't get too hot rather warm and they mold to your bump and back.

hope you start to feel better soon

My midwifes advice was use one but not for too long without a break (she said about 10 mins) and wrap the bottle in a towel so it's not so hot.

Hope you feel better soon sweetie xxx
