Hi everyone,

Does anyone know if you can have a 4D scan and not be told the sex or is it impossible not to find out at one of those scans? I would really love one but i dont want to find out the sex so wont have one if it risks me finding out!

Thanks for reading :)

mmm good question i'm going to have 1 2. sure if u tell them u dont want 2 know when u go in they wont scan around that area. i'll be booking mine soon, so i'll ask x

Thanks Mel - I would love one now but I really want to keep the sex unknown until the birth :)

Yes of course. you tell the sonographer and they will avoid that area for you. Even at my growth scan the other week the sonographer asked if I knew what I was having and when I said yes she continued and we saw his bits. If you dont want to know they will make sure they stay away from their bottom end :)

Wicked thanks! I am going to look into my nearest scan place now :) :) :)

Hey, I'm planning to go to the one in Cirencester, Baby Bond, and the package I'm going for says:

Babybond 4D Bonding Scan Option II
Purpose of the scan: Bonding, Reassurance and Fetal Growth Report, ideally between 24 – 32 weeks gestation (20 – 26 weeks for multiple pregnancy). Includes Babybond well-being checklist, growth report with fetal weight estimation, sexing of baby if requested, 4D scan “long DVD¹” in sleeve, thermal b/w prints 3D scan prints, 4 x sleeved colour gloss 3D scan prints, in white, blue or pink Babybond bag, to take home: £179. (Includes £30 deposit)

So it definately says in there 'if requested' so they must be used to people not wanting to know!

Hey I just looked at that place too, will discuss with OH and see if he will agree! The sample images look amazing dont they? Im just worried that if the baby isnt facing the right way then they wont re-make the appointment so money would be wasted if the pics are not very good - I would hate that to happen. We'll see :)

Look around for reviews of different companies before booking. I've heard mised reviews about Babybond.... :|

Will do MM - thing is there aren't many in my area that do it, Ive seen this one in Cirencester and one in Chippenham - they are both quite a way away from me :(

so what sort of price range are we looking at for these scans? I really want one but am now working on getting out of debt before baby arrives. hmmm tempting!

Im reckoning on about £150-£170 OH will probably choke.

I would love one but as im self employed and wont be getting maternity pay while off work I cant justify £100+. Im very jeleous though!! x

I read reviews on Babybond and I thought they were all great, ie if baby was the wrong way they always let you come back again for another try. Better do some more research.

Might look into that Bath one as well, think there is one in the Bupa place in Bristol (called Spire now) also. http://forum.sofeminine.co.uk/forum/maternite1/__f1128_maternite1-4d-scan-wow.html

Let me know how you get on, guessing you'll be going for yours just before me.

hi,im gonna get one done too, but i want to know the sex of the baby, does anyone know how accurate they are?
xxxx

Don't know how far you ladies are from me but i had one in warminster - 10 mins from bath. Temple clinic. It was because i had some beeding and wanted reassurance, they were fantastic and very good at expaining everything etc. I'm going there for my 4d i think its £140, but there are different packages.

Hey

Just to let you know I have had 2 scans at Baby Bond in Barnsley and I couldn't fault them. I had an early scan at 7 weeks and an NT scan at 13 wks. They were far more professional and seemed to know what they were doing a hell of a lot more than the NHS sonnographer I saw for my 12 week scan. I had to go get my NT one at babybond as baby was in wrong position at Doncaster NHS hospital and they said they would not be re-scheduling the scan due to this. So I would have to rely on just a blood test at 16 weeks, which incidentally I'm on week 17 and they have still not sent me for one!! Just as well i went to babybond really!!!

PS. At the NT scan they turned on the 4d mode it was excellent i got about 4 photos in 4d mode and about 20 in normal mode
