I've just been out and bought my first couple of baby clothes wooohooooo. I bought a newborn size babygro and a 0-3 month sized winter overall coat. The coat looks gigantic compared to the babygro :? Should i buy a coat in newborn instead, bearing in mind LO wil be born end of Nov? I appreciate the advice.

If you plan on going out in the 1st 6weeks then get one of those all in one coat things.

It really depends what size LO is too, if you have a 6lber, then newborn will fit for alot longer, if you habe a 9lber, then go straight to 0-3. Mabey wait till then, you can always go out after two weeks and buy one :)

I would keep the one u have

I bought loads of 0-3 month stuff thinking I would have a big baby but Finlay arrived early and was in Tiny baby stuff for ages, newborn till about 3 months, and only just growing out of 0-3 stuff now and going into 3-6  He's 5 months btw

It so hard to judge what to get - different shops are completely different!

With Lucy I bought loads of newborn (up to 10lb ) which I thought would be great. Lucy was born at 6lb 14ozs and everything I'd bought was too big. I had to send people to get me the tiny baby sizes!!

It really depends on the baby's size which is a pain because it's hard to predict how big baby will be. Saying that, I was 6lb13oz and my OH was 7lb8oz so I guess I should have made a better guess!

Newborn fitted Kieran for about a month and he was born at 7lb 4oz so I think it's worth getting a few things in newborn :)

0-3 seemed to bury melissa she was average weight (7lb 7oz) but quite long so she looked very slim! but she was gaining like a pound every 2 weeks so soon fit into her 0-3 stuff.

it also depends which label it is too, one jumper from next fit her until she was about 8 months old- despite being "newborn" size!

I bought loads of newborn clothes for Aiden because my MW said from feeling his shape he would be a normal sized baby, he wasn't and only wore it for a week! He then went on to size 3-6 at 2months

Lyla was 9lb 2oz, although thats a big birth weight she's not fat, she's 'long' 23 inches so the newborn we got fits as long as it doesnt have feet haha! but coats etc fit as far as sleepsuits go she's in 0-3 for the leg room but its sooooooo baggy on her trunk and arms.
i dont think you can guess what will/won't fit your baby just dont be a crazy mare like me and buy tons of newborn just but enough to tide you over maybe a few sleepsuits and vests then if you have a 6lb-er you can buy more or if you have a 9lb-er you've not wasted much money!

Before Louis was born I bought loads of 0-3 months clothes, and just a few newborn sleeping suits...
He was 6lb 8oz and most of the newborn stuff was too big for him... luckily MIL had bought some tiny baby clothes that were perfect :D
I had to buy many more newborn clothes for the first month.
Some 0-3 months still fit him even though he is now 14lb :?

You probably won't go out much to start with anyway so hold off buying a coat, you can pick them up in any supermarket cheap if you find you need one qickly. Connie was in newborn sleepsuits for 4 days as she's long and her feet were getting squashed. The vests for 2 weeks as they had no legs. Newborn trousers are still fit but too short.

Violet was 7lb 1 and newborn clothes were too big for her. She was in tiny baby for about 4 weeks, then newborn by about 2 months she was ready for 0-3 and we're still in them now (she's just past 3 months) :D

I would keep the one you've got... too big is better than too small :)

x

if you buy an all in one ( and i would) id buy newborn tho , unless you ahve a corker these all in ones always come up huge , leland was lost in his newborn one and he was 6lb5

Angel was 8lb 3oz, and newborn lasted her for a month. But i had 1 coat at 0-3. In was huge on her but i couldn't justify buying her a newborn coat (Being April at the time). She still wears this coat now and she's in 3-6 now.

I had bought a lot of 0-3 clothes, when Aimee arrived they drowned her and she was 8lbs 5oz. I had to get my dad to buy a lot of newborn clothes for when I came out the hospital, within 2 weeks she had outgrown the newborn and never got the chance to wear half the clothes my dad had bought. She is 10lbs 2oz now and I still find some 0-3 outfits are far too big for her! I guess it depends on where you get them, different places have different measurements! :shakehead:

I found I went out most days for little strolls with my daughter when she was born. I brought her a newborn outfit, which was still way to big on her (she weighed 5lb 12oz), she was born in February so it was really cold. I use to put her in her outdoor outfit and then wrap her in a few blankets also, so she was nice and shug. :D

Woolworths were doing lovely all in one coats at half price so i picked one up 0-3 (in pink) for £10. Went back to exchange for Newborn today but they only had off white in NB so i got that instead, not as cute as the pink one :shakehead:

Thanks for your advice everyone :)

Yeah all my babies wore newborn to satrt with as 0-3 would have been to big and my largest was my daughter at 8lbs 9oz!
Shame you could only get the off white one but I bet its still cute!! :D
